Who isn't interested in pay? Will you work free of charge? Such poverty mentality and mediocrity I am seeing here is top notch.

Why bring people that lack jobs or desperate people into this? So that what will happen?

She noticed that you lack passion for the job. She doesn't want to invest in someone who hates the job but just wants the money.

For me i think op acted too early by asking for an increment even before the end of the month but then according to her the workload is more than the money which i believe only she can determine that, as for your madam not forgiving and her crude behavior towards you i think it's common with all this over religious kind of people they don't forgive and they don't forget as well, i wonder the kind of Holy book they read from..

They are the most wicked set of humans. They are mostly bigots. Those types that will not smell heaven yet will not allow others pass.

Well, I largely agree with the bolded, but not sure it wuld apply in this case.

FYI, I worked in mission (hospital) so Im speaking from experience. the truth is, their expectations of staff character is one of charity, selfless service and dedication, hence its no secret such mission organizations dont usually pay too well. so for this new staff to be asking for increase barely a week into her appointment is in direct contrast to what they stand for. I can assure that if this gets to the Archbishop, she will almost certainly be sacked on the spot.

Anyway, the good thing is OP has shown remorse and I'm sure the Sis will come around.

As in, mission hospital is just something else. Even the director will be looking somehow

Charity on top of salary. Wow

Haaaaaa this one just won commot food for him mouth by himself

Your village people spectranet is on 12G

Why not work for that month since you are still on probation then try hard and make a visible important impact that will convince them the more so that whenever you go for salary increase they will likely entertain ur request

Aaaah I didn't see the 12months probation haba this is too much na

Out of 7 days in a week, you work for just 5 days (Mon- Fri) ''a new staff'' you demand a salary increment!!..
Reason being that you received 4,000 receipts within a week probably you must have been calculating the amount of money per receipt..
Too bad of you... You deserved to be desciplined

Someone read your story and called my attention to it. You cannot be on probation and ask for increment while on it. If your pay at confirmation is not worth your while then demand for it and you would get it if you have made yourself somewhat indispensable during the probation year. Wait till you're a manager or business owner and understand why.

I advise you to work harder than all your peers you came in together with and earn her approval or look for job elsewhere. Don't let anyone deceive you about rights you don't have during probation.

1 week is quite early but what's done is done. F*ck the woman,f*ck the salary, f*ck the missionary school, f*ck the owner, f*ck the country.

From 45k to 42k because someone said her mind. What manner of f*uckery is this? Op, try searching for another job ASAP . She might still reduce when she sees you as a weak person.

Get out of there ASAP.

I like you and I love the way you think.
The woman did absolutely nothing wrong asking for a salary increase. All the school had to do was say “your salary will be reviewed on Bleep date, please be patient until then”. Unfortunately most Nigerians are cowards and preyed on by unprofessional firms.

This is mean.
Do you know why there are so much problems in Nigeria? Because, there are some people who think that they are some kind of God over nothing. She made a request. Did she protested after that. Why so much drama? The woman is welcomed to refuse. Is she not doing her work well?
Everyone cant be d same.I wonder where some people get this kind of mindset from.
Las las. This hustle ehh. We go dey alright.
But know that Karma is real o. People wey dey shout star performer, na dem no dey sabi anything. Anything, you do. Prepare 4 your own.

the worst part is that the sense of entitlement is inversely proportional to the value add.

I think it was a wrong move for you to ask for pay rise just after one week on the job regardless of how difficult you found your job to be. There's every chance that your organisation has not reaped the benefit of your hard work. It was too soon. Even if you remain on the job now, you didn't create a first impression, your employer will see you as money driven, instead of growth and development driven. They will not trust you. If i were you, if i found out that the job i took was not worth it, i would have given them notice of resignation, and at some point your boss might want to persuade you to stay and money talk could come up.

1. Do not quit the job
2. Make sure you are happy and stay at peace with other staff.
3 Do not show any sign that you are upset about the whole thing
4. Keep greeting her well
5. If possible, work harder than every other person and do not complain to anybody. Even when anyone tries to drow you into discussion, do not against the job rather take time to share how you enjoy doing the job. You can even tell them you boss is a better person to work with.
6. Behave like nothing has happened and like nothing is happening.
7. Stay calm.
8. I just forgot the last point that flash through my head but if you can work on the list below, you will surely have a joyful end... It will shock you.

Am Dying In Silent! What Do I Do?

I got a work in missionary school. The Reverend sister in charge said I will be on probation for 12 months with #45k take home monthly.

As someone who has been at home for months I just accepted the job. After one week in the office, I found out that the work was heavy on me to the extent that I will go home with lots of them to do at home. I went back to her and pleaded if she can add small money to my salary, so she got angry and told me that they will pay me for the one week I worked for, that they don't need my type of person to work with them, that It seems that I like money too much. I cried that day to the extent that I can't open my eyes very well. She later said that she will give me second chance but she will reduce my salary to 42k.

I wrote an apology letter to her and I specifically told her to forgive for the sake of my mother and my son because am a single mother and am the one taking care of them. When I received the alert, I saw truly that she removed the money.

She doesn't respond to my greetings, other privileges she gave to workers," I no dey smell am",she acknowledged other new workers, she did not call my name.. Please I need advice because am just there because I don't have option. Am dying in silence!

Thanks in anticipation

Unserious employee.

You think a new job offers you the jobless luxury one enjoys while idle at home..

I got the job by merit and she is the superior. No other person I can report to except the Archbishop and I don't want to take it that level. Thank you
How did you rush to ask for an increase in salary after 1 week on the job is what i find funny. They just found you to be very impatient and you may have failed the first test as a staff, hence the treatment. Try to impress them before seeking a 'payrise'.

start looking for another job immediately, don't get used to working in such environment. You are better than that. Most people are underpaid like you but unemployment rate make them to manage.

Start looking for somewhere else, don't overwork yourself for peanut salary

How do you know that the Togolese tillers wouldn't complain if they were in her shoes? How do you know that the Indians wouldn't complain? I have worked with these two sets of people before and from my experience. The Togolese wouldnt complain quickly but whenever he/she decides to complain and you think that reducing his/her salary is the solution. He leaves the next day.
The Indians would give you less quality work if they see that you wouldn't increase the pay talkless of reducing the salary.
Why should we even be talking about the Togolese and Indians. Why not Americans, British, Canadians.
Why is mediocrity this much. Just a request and someone decides to reduce her salary. Which one is the attitude issue here. Do you even know her condition. Its the reverend sister that's even showing attitudes here if you don't know. Nobody is saying she is right for asking but the reverend sister is also wrong for deducting from her salary and not replying her greetings. Its not fair now. Your heart na stone?
