Sanwo-Olu was quite the force on the campaign trail

Sanwo-Olu of the APC swept to power in March, 2019 on a populist wave, handing closest challenger Jimi Agbaje of the opposition PDP a bloody nose in all the 20 local governments in Lagos.

His election campaign was also a ubiquitous, viral affair; with his name and images enjoying instant recognition status on every lip and in every street corner.

However, voters have been complaining about Sanwo-Olu’s slow pace of governance since he succeeded Akinwunmi Ambode in May of 2019, amidst worsening road surfaces, perennial traffic on roads, dark streets and flash floods across Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu said he can explain why he's been off to a slow start.

“Vehicular traffic in Lagos is about 240 cars or thereabout per kilometer. The national average is about 11 cars per kilometer.We are fully aware that there is a problem now in the short term and we are solving it.

"Once we finish the rainy season, extensive road rehabilitation will start to fix the roads as it were. Not that we will fix all the 6,000 roads in Lagos in one day, because everybody takes a snapchat or picture and sends to me. We are going to get there over time, but it won’t be everything at once”, Sanwo-Olu promised.

The governor also compared the traffic woes in Lagos to what obtains in New York.

He never even for once visited the affected areas to know what's up. Do you know the terrible state the road from Alakija to okoko was and still is. Meanwhile Sanwo paid a visit the same week he resumed office and he has released funds and the project is back on track.
The only thing Ambode did was beautify Ekpe/Ajah axis because that's his side.
Don't spread any Ambode propaganda cos real lagosians know what's up

Please counter my points.

Ambode skipped the terrible state of roads and spent billions on buses. On which road will the buses run? Most of those buses are still in the wharf till this minute. Ambode under performed and that was why it was easier for Tinubu to edge him out. Don't forget Fashola also had issues with Tinubu prior to his second tenure but he had the backing of everyone because he worked during his first term. If there was a split and he switched to PDP he could easily win and tilt power. Ambode on the other hand has no worthy contributions or project to point to. Or you think it's by opening bus terminal?

Only people living outside Lagos praise Ambode.
