Trust is the ability to have confidence in or reliance on something or somebody. Trust is one of the most important and powerful ingredient of any relationship but ironically people tend to underestimate or abuse its importance. The presence or absence of trust in any undertaking that involves two or more persons in life can make or mar it. It is something that is built over time and takes honesty and consistency in character and action to achieve. Without trust no relationship can stand be it business, work, romance or otherwise. When someone say they trust you, this means they have known you over time and you have been faithful and true with your words and action therefore ther can rely on you, anytime any day.

In romantic relationships, love and trust goes hand in hand, one can barely exist without the other. Once you love someone whole heartedly, you tend to trust them too, but what happens when one partner has a reason to doubt the other? This deals a serious blow in the love they share and the relationship begins to falter. They begin to question every step you take and every move you make, trivial things that otherwise would not have been an issue begins to create serious problems for you both.

Your partner used to be so loving, caring, understanding and encouraging. He or she could see you with the opposite sex on the street hugging and wont even bother about it, what ever you told them was what they believed without any doubt. They had so much confidence in you that they even gave you PIN to their ATM and unrestricted access to their account, they could travel for months and return to meet you where they left you and then suddenly they discover that you may not have been honest, they have reasons to think you cheated, you apologise and explain yourself but the relationship can never be the same again, they have developed serious trust issues with you.

Once trust is broken it’s very hard to rebuild and things may never be the same again. However if you value the relationship, you can still strive to rebuild the trust, this time you have to be honest, truthful, dependable, say what you mean and mean what you say. Let your words match your actions, forget the past and whatever has happened, forgive yourself and focus on the love you share, it will be hard but give it time, things will return almost the way they used to be.

Trust is an invaluable part of any healthy relationship, never play with it, if you do, you may never get it back exactly the way it used to be.
