The Switzerland international pointed to threats against himself and his family to explain why he reacted so furiously at the weekend to jeers



Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka has offered an explanation to Gunners fans over the furious scenes that accompanied his substitution against Crystal Palace .




Xhaka was taken off by Unai Emery towards the end of Sunday’s draw, which saw the hosts throw away a 2-0 lead in the London derby.





With the Emirates Stadium’s jeers ringing in his ears, the Switzerland international offered an angry reaction, ripping off his shirt and marching straight down the tunnel.



Before leaving, however, he had a final message for fans, cupping his ear and mouthing “f*ck off” at the stands.

Nonsense apology. Any apology anybody is forced to make is not an apology. Over 80% of Arsenal players don't have the arsenal spirit. Bunch of spineless and untalented greedy players whose only interest is high wages without a reciprocating contribution to the success of the club.

Bad behaviour

We must condemn fans who say nasty things on social media to Granit Xhaka and his family.

Having said the foregoing, it is important to note the following:
1. There is no guarantee that non-Arsenal fans didn't swell number of people giving online abuses to Arsenal players to destabilize them. I recall one year when Balloteli was still Liverpool's player but played minimally. When the year ended, Arsenal fans moved enmass to Liverpool FC voting platform to vote massively for Balloteli as Liverpool Player of year. Of course,the award was cancelled for that year.
2. Many depressed people see football as only source of joy in the midst of 'hostile world'. Consequently, when players perform below par and match is lost, their depressed state of mind is aggravated the more driving them to let out stream of incentive and threats to players, which make them feel better. For once, imagine defender Mustafi turning the ball into his own goalpost as own goal few minutes into a crucial match and the kind of distress it causes a mind already on the edge. So the fact remains, as a captain, Xhaka disrespected Arsenal fans by wasting time time when substituted, cupping his ear and saying F-word when booed.

Having said this much, it is important to state that nothing justifies the threats Xhaka received although there is little anybody can do to avoid it in social media world where one person can operate multiple accounts and say abuse others as he desires.
