ASYLUM SEEKER BURSARY SCHOLARSHIP - UNIVERSITY OF SURREY

For 2020 entry, tuition fee and maintenance support is available for one undergraduate student and one postgraduate student who are asylum seekers or who hold Discretionary Leave to Remain.

Successful applicants will be awarded:

A partial tuition fee waiver that will cover the difference between the UK/EU tuition fee* and the Oversees fee charged (up to £17,500). Under this waiver, students will still be classed as international students but will be able to pay the home rate of fee
A maintenance bursary of up to £1,500 towards set up costs, books, and travel in your first year of study.
The tuition fee waiver is available for each year of study. This is unless, as a result of an asylum application, you (or the person of who you are a dependent of) are granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK. If this happens, you must inform the University and the award will cease from the start of the next academic year, when you would be expected to apply for student finance instead.

* £9,250 for UK/EU undergraduate students enrolling at the University in 2020. View the full list of taught postgraduate fees

Please note that application to the Asylum Seeker Bursary is competitive and not all applications will be successful.

Final decisions on bursary applications will be made by a panel so please be aware that you may be invited to attend an interview to discuss your bursary application.

The American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship

It promotes educational access and opportunity while enhancing international diversity. Bringing together the best of AU - academic excellence, leadership development, and global engagement - the AU Emerging Global Leader achieves, inspires, and serves with vision. The AU EGL is dedicated to positive civic and social change, and will return home to improve under-resourced, underserved communities in their home country.

The AU EGL scholarship covers all billable AU expenses (full tuition, room and board) for one international student who will need a visa (preferably an F-1 or J-1 student visa) to study in the United States. The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets and miscellaneous expenses (approximately U.S.$4,000 per year).

The AU EGL scholarship is renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate study, based on continued satisfactory academic performance.

The Wien International Scholarship Program (WISP) at Brandeis University, established in 1958, is a first-of-its kind program bringing students from every corner of the globe to campus and engaging the entire community to be active global citizens.

The vision and generosity of its namesake, Lawrence A. and Mae L. Wien, and the entire Wien family, continues to be illustrated in the dedicated students and alumni who serve as leaders on campus and throughout the world in the areas of science, the arts, politics, business, and the humanities.

Wien Scholars are identified not only by their academic achievement, but for their contributions inside and outside of the classroom prior to, during, and after their years at Brandeis. Since its inception, the Wien International Scholarship Program has brought over 894 scholars from 115 countries to Brandeis, and its graduates continue to be committed to Brandeis University and to improving the world.

Scholarships for First-Year Students
Clark Merit Scholarships
Clark University has several different merit- and achievement-based scholarships, outlined below. Every applicant to Clark will be considered for these scholarships. No separate application is required, except where noted.

Admitted students who have excelled in secondary school and whose academic achievement and personal qualities indicate they will perform at the highest level when they enroll at the University will be given top consideration for these awards. Decisions about which scholarship, if any, an admitted student will receive are based on academic qualifications as indicated in their application for admission, not on family need. Students who are awarded a merit-based scholarship will be notified of this when they receive their admissions decision. Approximately 60% of our students receive merit-based awards.

Students whose financial need is greater than the amount of the scholarship may be eligible for additional assistance through a combination of grants, loans and work-study. Information about need-based financial aid.
