African Literature by bebe2007(m): 4:49pm On May 22, 2007 |
I have just been introduced to African Literature. I Never thought i could read those books. ( some are so unattractive i just never was interested) Am really loving it!!!!!! especially Books by BUCHI EMECHETA: Joys of Motherhood, In the Ditch, Head above water(autobiography), the Bride Price etc. I like Chimamanda Adichie,(Purple Hibiscus, Half of a yellow sun) Sefi Atta, EVERYTHING GOOD WILL COME. I really related to this novel. Brilliant work "SO LONG A LETTER" forgotten her name(senegalese lady), i cried like a baby to mention a few. Am in a new world presently some of these books are so old but really interesting. I would encourage all the readers in the house to go back to their roots pick up these books and read again. some you must have read before probably while growing up, i bet you will have a different understanding now. Please if you know more authors and books, i would like to know please i really want to build a library on African Literature now for my future kids. Thanks. |

Talking about African literature, I think it's very good to get back to our root. Babe2007, check out these works - Ngugi Wa thiongo's 'River Between', Ama Ata Adio's Anowa. Just as SMC said mariama 'Ba is the author of so long a letter. Lets get back to our root!!! |

so long a letter by Mariam (senegalese lady) was so interesting. Anyone read Ama Atoo's book? She is from Ghana. one of her book, the delima of a ghost lol was so hilarious. I love songs of Lawino, and the bunch of African writers. |
