THE assets of former Governor of Delta State Chief James Ibori were frozen only in the United Kingdom (UK) and not in Nigeria, his ex-Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Tony Eluemunor, said Sunday in Abuja.

He also said Ibori has won all his cases against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and none of his assets had been seized.

Eluemunor, who made the clarification in his personal capacity in a statement, said Ibori’s assets frozen amounted to about $7million and not $30million as being widely claimed.

He said: "Chief James Onanefe Ibori does not engage in exchange of words with institutions or persons.

Yet, I want to point out as Tony Eluemunor, a journalist and a Nigerian citizen, that the report carried by some newspapers today, especially The Nation of Sunday 14th November 2010, which listed Ibori among those whose properties were not only seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) but were being managed for EFCC by a certain company, was faulty and improper.

"The fact is that Chief Ibori won the anti-corruption charges that the EFCC brought against him in Nigeria. All the charges were duly quashed by a Federal High Court that sat in Asaba, almost a year ago.

"It is a fact that some assets, some of which belong to Ibori, were frozen abroad, but those could not have been seized by anybody as they still remain frozen.

"It is also a fact that those frozen assets are not anywhere near the $30 million amount that have been bandied about to deceive Nigerians and demonize Ibori, but they hover around $7 million.

How did the loot get there in the first place if the UK are not thieves themselves.
With the historical ties with Nigeria, the UK did not need a prophet to tell them where the money came from.
As the stolen money remains frozen, it continues to yield interest for the bloody hook-nosed thieves.
Disgusting imperialists.

Well, serves Nigeria and Africa as a whole right. A fool and his/her money are soon parted.

Ibori needs to lose some more weight.
Nigerians are ugly people sha.
Even with all the money, the dude cannot even look decent.
Still looks rough, but finer than OBJ. Thank God.

I wonder what is taking the Dubai authorities so long to hear his appeal on his extradition to the UK
