Why put decimal point? I taught children is discontinuous graph,
3 children per woman or 7 children per woman.
Or 6 to 7 children per woman....
How do we interpret 3.2children, or is it Kong Solomon that did the analysis?
It an average calculation, e.g you take the total number of children in lagos and divide it by the total number of mothers.

Lol you don't get me,
I am trying to say discontinuous data should be rounded up to the nearest whole number

It's very simple .
They calculate the average number of births recorded every day, week or months
I am trying to say discontinuous data should be rounded up to the nearest whole number, or but in a range of values, it does not make sense to have two and half children, does it?

High birth rate is one of the characteristics of a country with a high unemployment rate. Provide more jobs and you will see how fast birth rate drops. A person that left home very early for work and came home late won't even bother much about sex. The things on that person's mind will be to bath, eat, sleep and prepare the body for the next day's work. Unemployed and under-employed people contribute up to 85% of total new births.
i agree 100%also high birthrates are associated with poor education and poverty. an earning person /couple knows that they have to utilize their resources to provide the best for their children, resources are scarce hence fewer children.

And it is not as if the population in katsina is useful to Nigeria in anyway like that of China.

They are mostly born throway constituting serious burden to the country with their near zero productivity.

Nobody disputes that.
Just the same way we don't dispute that they are the greatest liability to the Nigerian project.

Your analysis is right.
I told my friend that we have too many out of school and helpless children and that I may either decide to adopt and have only one from my future woman or not have any at all but his reaction shocked me.

Why do some Nigerians see adoption as wrong?

Ignorance is the reason why they see adoption as wrong.

Not surprised at all...

The more educated people are...
The less likely they are to have many kids.

Ultimately, parenting is not about QUANTITY of kids...
But rather about the QUALITY of life we accord those kids.

all the people in the village are employed as they have their own farms. and no, they are not having sex less often. they are just more cautious not to have many kids as they know first hand how difficult life in urban industrialized societies are.

Unemployment or employment isn5 the reason for the high fertility. As the report shows, education plays probably the biggest role, the better people are educated, the less likely they are to have children and svice versa.

Nowadays, most graduates rarely go beyond 3. Many even stop at 2. I.know many who have stopped at one. A few don't even have children.

eucation is not the cause for not wanting to have fewer children. surveys only show correlation, not causative factors.

majority of highly educated people stay in urban centres where raring children can be expensive. that's not the case in rural centres. in rural communities, there is farm, the children work on farms thereby offsetting the cost of taking care if them. there is large space for settlement in villages and this means you can have more kids. in the city, space is expensive. if you are a family of say 5, you will need a three bedroom flat. that can cost alot in cities.

it is an error to associate high birth rate with poverty and in the end subtlely say that high birth rate IS THE CAUSE OF POVERTY. if that were the case, countries like China wouldn't have relaxed their one child policy to now want more kids. several countries in Europe would not be setting up special ministries and programmes to encourage people to have more kids. low birth rates actually pose a threat to the viability of their states, both economically and otherwise

the north is actually far more productive than tge ogogoro drinking Niger delta. if the north were a separate country, they would be food sufficient!

Lol.

Is that why there are children wandering hungry in the north?

Is that why malnutrition is more common in the north?

Is that why life expectancy is lower in the north?

That's part of it but only a small part...
Because more educated people in RURAL areas also tend to have LESS kids.

The primary causation is that the longer in school people are, the later they tend to get married and thus the later they tend to have kids (not that marriage is necessarily prerequisite to bearing children). Educated people also tend to more likely become employed and or pursue professional careers after their education and thus will not have kids immediately which might be disruptive of their work or occupation. In fact, if not for the proverbial fertility "clock" many professional women would probably defer childbirth until much later. Finally, many educated women tend to be aspirational and want to manage the number of kids they have so that they can accord their kids a high quality of education and life in general.
