Senate Wants Nnpc To Review Security Measures For Pipelines In Nigeria by soloenzo(m): 1:29pm On Nov 13, 2019
President of the Nigerian Senates, Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday, said government officials conniving with criminals involved in vandalising oil pipelines should be sanctioned and prosecuted if identified.

Lawan stated this in his remarks after the consideration of the report of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Pipeline Explosions during plenary.

The Senate President has directed the Senate Committee on Petroleum (downstream) to invite the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with a view to ensuring a review of security measures for pipelines in parts of the country.

reports that the Senate President has also called for the National Assembly to amend the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) Act to prevent the activities of pipeline vandals that leads to explosions and deaths.
