Hello fellow Nairalanders, I would like this to be a cohesive thread. Basically whether you are Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa or any other Nigerian tribe Please post a proverb. The proverb should be posted in your native language and translated. E.g. Meta, merin lore dun mo. Ore ayanju ni mu ni yan eke. 3 or 4 friends are good enough. Any more than that, and one will be bad. (Yoruba) Egbe bere, ugo bere. Nke si ebeya ebela, nkuu kwaa kwa ya. Let the kite hawk have a perch, and also the eagle have a perch. Whichever begrudges the other the right to perch may he break a wing. (Igbo) A buggi karfe da saura'n zafe, in ya fuche sai a wahalla. Strike while the iron is hot, you will suffer if you allow it to get cold. (Hausa) |
