Re: Nollywood Split Over Tonto Dikeh by ray4life(m): 10:56am On Nov 19, 2010
I still don't get this,

an actress decides to show some flesh in a film (make believe) and suddenly all hell breaks loose, with the righteous ones among us crying its immoral, indecent, offensive, not African.

Ok, here is a reality check:

is it not in the same Africa that we have have corrupt politicians that loot billions of dollars and stash them away in foreign banks at the expense of her starving citizens.

is it not immoral that while senators and house of respresentative members collect millions as monthly allowances the nigerian labour congress is fighting for just 18,000 naira monthly salary.

is it right that some state universities in the south east have been on strike for the past 6 months and nobody is talking about it.

take a look around all general hospitals in Lagos and you would be amazed at the level of suffering patients and their relatives have to go through just to get basic health care.

recently, I went to a local bar and I ordered a bottle of STAR, the guy served me a bottle of STAR in a HARP bottle with STAR labelled on the bottle and I did not realise this until I had consumed half the drink (thank God, I'm still alive).

the list goes on, massive umemployment, non existent Power supply, bad road, 419, fake drugs etc.

we have all this myriad of problems and people are complainig about an actress bearing flesh in a film, come to think of it, i will rather watch a film that shows naked female flesh than watch a film that shows ritual killing and sacrifices.

the bottom line is this, if you find bearing of female flesh in a film offensive, immoral and indecent, you have a choice. DON'T WATCH

naija films are crap anyway, therefore i don't watch.

is it morally right to v sex before marriage, how many of u haven't loose their virginity, far far before marriage, now you condemn the lady for that little act, many are worse than her.
Re: Nollywood Split Over Tonto Dikeh by OlaRay4(m): 11:42am On Nov 19, 2010
Exactly,

No one complained if it was a european or American but the moment the person is Nigerian the whistle blowers jump out into the street, Its unafrican bla bla bla

Knowing that Nigerian senate married a minor (13 years old girl) and no one said anything

In the same country they are campaigning to stop people been stoned to death for adultery

Did everybody here watch that clips or are they just commenting based on others comment or has anyone watched the film that has something much more than we have seen? For crying out loud this is just a movie and part of entertainment, and if you check there is a specified age, what is the hullabaloo for screaming out loud. She did not bare her breasts cos i dont know if any of you saw n!pples in that clips. Most people are attacking Tonto Dike but no one is attacking the guy, stereotyping abi?If you dont wanna watch it then Bleep off.It is her profession and thus she has the right to act whatever she wants, it is a script written by a producer and he needs someone pretty and daring, hence Tonto Dike got the balls and she did it. Most of you here are worse than her, banging more than one babe or guy, but ye pretend like you have never eaten diks or pusies.
And those category are saying bollywood have preserved their culture blah blah blah, so how many of you watch indian movies, how many do you buy in a week? will you buy a dish that shows only Indian movies?can you buy a dish without American Movies? and if i still ask you who is your best actor or actress, that person is not gonna be an Indian or Nigerian, so what is in that American movies that attracts you.Either you like it or not, sex, romance, is part the entertainment industry. How many of you here have come here to condemn D, Banj, PSquare and other musicians , for the kinda of music movies they shoot.Even Julius Agwu is ranting. How many of you have condemned comedians for the kinda vulgar languages they use.Our culture this our culture that. Is kissing part of your culture, yet you all kiss. I have never seen any of you condemn the juju nature of Nigerian films, oh oh that is your culture killing and destroying familes, loved ones, people, community with juju, that one is good for your children abi?You are talking of moralities, how many movies do you think is meant for teaching moralities|? so killing, loving, and vengeance is also an indian culture?cos that is what bollywoods is all about. So you fu cking hypocrites shut your traps and get a religious movie if you want to be taught morality

What's all these brouhaha over nothing? If vices like armed robbery, ritual killings et al are portrayed in movies, why should sex be different? And sex isn't even seen as a vice,

Hollywood is Hollywood! Nollywood is Nollywood! Bollywood is Bollywood! Films are often made in the fashion and background of the area where it is being sold. Wanting Nollywood to be as good as Hollywood, doesn’t mean Nollywood actresses should expose their , to the public. Imitating Hollywood should be all about improving the quality of movies (lightening, sound, image etc, ) Take Bollywood for example. How many times have you seen the butt of Rai, Kareena Kapoor, etc, These ladies are pretty and I don't know any lady in Nollywood that can match Aishwarya Rai, in both beauty and talent. Bollywood’s themes are always centered around Love and Romance, still you hardly find people kissing. Needless to say I find most Bollywood films 10 times more interesting to Nollywwod films.
Yesterday I was watching a Ghanaian movie and it was a shame watching Majid and Yvonne Nelson naked. There was an episode of two girls exposing their breast and strongly on Majid. If Nollywood wants to be like Hollywwod, they should start by improving the quality of their films. It is common and acceptable for two men to kiss each other on the American streets, but if two men were to try that on the Street of Lagos, you all know what the population will do to them

Look 90% of movies released today from Nollywood got their ideas fron Hollywood, The Cars, the guns, the shops, hospitals, the offices, the schools, the cloths, the gadgets etc are tamplates from Hollywood now to pick one area that you dont like and say that Nollywood should stay clear from, is looney!!! I guess you would be happy if Halle Berry stripes for a love scene but the moment the name changes to an African theirs a problem. I guess you should have campaigned for Nollywood to stick to producing movies to movies like Things Fall Apart or movies where they live in mud huts, no shoes, the ruler because the lead actor etc

Do you mean the regular Babalao scenes we watch everyday in Nollywood are from Hollywood!!!! The typical Nollywood film is often a bore to an average American. That is because most Nigerian films are centered around our daily lives. I will rather watch Things Fall Apart movies everyday than watch Dikeh and Nelson parade their unclothedness in the name of a Love movie! Like it or not, we are Africans, and they are certain values that make us so. Bollywod has been there for a longer period than Nollywood.  I have watched several  Bollywood films with same story line as Hollywood  movies. When these happens, Bollywood cuts off obscene scenes of love making and nudity. That is because Indians are Indians and Americans are Americans. I guess not long from now, we will start  watching the real bubble on Nollywood films. If Dikeh wants to parade her thing, she can well go Hollywood. Omotola, Genevieve, Victoria Inyama and a whole lot of others have skyrocketed Nollywood without showing their butts!
Re: Nollywood Split Over Tonto Dikeh by Nobody: 4:54am On Feb 15, 2011
She's an actress and can play any role she wishes. She can act a whole film naked for all I care. I won't watch if I don't want to. Last time I checked, people watch and love porn, as indecent as it is.

If that's the avenue she wants to go for more fame, however, Nollywood is the wrong place. She should consult Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian. I hear they're doing very well these days.
