Ae-funai Holds Training For Senior And Junior Staff by cyborgFUNAI: 11:00pm On Nov 15, 2019
Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, on Tuesday 12th November, 2019 commenced a two day Special High Impact Staff Training Programme, for senior and junior administrative staff of Registry Department. The training, which was organized by Ventlab Limited in collaboration with Vision Educational and Management Consult, focused on Making a Difference through Efficient and Effective Service Delivery.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, who was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Sunday Elom welcomed the resource persons and staff at the University Main Auditorium, venue of the training, and stated that, the training is at the heart of the Vice-Chancellor and part of his vision for AE-FUNAI staff to get proper training. He added that the Motto of the University, which is Excellence and Integrity, cannot be achieved without proper training of staff, urging participants to take the training seriously. He commended the Registrar, Mrs Odisa C. Okeke for the proper packaging of the High Impact Training Programme and then declared the program open.

The Registrar, Mrs Okeke, introduced the resource persons, starting with Dr. Sally A. Asagwara, lead consultant and former Registrar, Michael Okpara Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike and Igbinedion University, Okada, Dr. Mrs Asagwara is also the Chief Executive Officer, Visions Educational and Management Consult. Next was Dr. Charles Omeire (MNI), former Deputy Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Owerri. Among the resource persons as introduced were Dr. Mrs. Felicia Ihuoma Oguja, former Deputy Registrar of Micheal Okpara University, Umudike and Prof Afam Icha Ituma, Dean Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike.

Dr. Asagwara’s lecture focused on “Working in the University: What the Administrator must know.” She emphasized the need for efficient record keeping, iterating that every registry staff should have proper knowledge of letters and minutes writing, physical layouts and key officers of the university, as that would help the administrator perform his job efficiently. At the junior section of the training, Dr. Asagwara highlighted the need for punctuality, honesty, dependability, reliability and confidentiality as work ethics needed to achieve the university’s goals.

Dr. Omeire took participants through the need for effective communication and pointed out that administrators and management should be aware of the information circulating in the unofficial communication channel and take steps to prevent false information from spreading.

Dr. Mrs. F.I. Okwujiako, who lectured junior Staff on “Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM), Working With Others to Achieve University Goals”, stressed on Cooperation, Team Work among Staff to achieve the University Goals.

Prof. Afam Icha-Ituma spoke on the need for confidentiality and Security consciousness in job performance in AE-FUNAI, pointing out that staff should be careful not to leak confidential information of the university.


Mr Chris Uwadoka, making remarks

Director Centre for Development Assistance Management, Partnerships and Training (CEDAMPAT), Mr Chris Uwadoka, remarked that the Vice-Chancellor’s dream is that in 5years from when he leaves the University, anyone looking for a registrar in South East, North Central, and South of Nigeria will look for someone who has AE-FUNAI imprint. He urged staff to take the program seriously.

Vote of thanks was given by Chairman, Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators, (ANUPA) AE-FUNAI branch, Dr. Mrs. Albi Okparaocha who appreciated the university management for organizing the training adding that the management of AE-FUNAI is setting the pace for other institutions to follow. She ended by thanking all resource persons for the quality delivery on the topics and staff for participating actively in the program.
