That guy called Garfield is taking political partisanship to another level by openly calling for the rigging of the election with Federal might...The guy seems to have lost his senses and constituting a nuisance on this thread...
it has turned to madness...I mean we are probably biased towards one party/candidate but not to his own extent..
funny enough, the people he supports might not even know of his existence rara

Ibrahim Idris and Abubakar Audu did not come unnoticed. However, Bello was never expected to the governor. Same as Idris Wada.
who could have thought an Ibrahim idris described as an "ordinary carpenter" would unseat Audu? Who even knew him before then? Atiku was the mastermind of his emergence and they rigged Audu out for Ibro.

Audu came out in 93, not many saw him as a force , despite holding a political office(commissioner in benue state I think). I'm not talking about his voyage in 99, I'm talking about his foray into politics.

Kogi is a very different terrain bro. Had the APC allowed Usman Jibrin to contest in the primary election, you would have known the role ethnicity plays in Kogi State. That guy was APC's best bet. Bello and Buhari cannot reduce the people's population over night. People that are already celebrating. A mini Ogani festival was held in Ankpa township today. You know what that means? The people have gone spiritual and rigging or intimidation cannot work again. Everyone seems prepared. The anger is real. I have been trying to make my people to understand that voting shouldn't be based on ethnicity and also tried to debunk outright lies that Bello didn't do anything and they see me as a Bello supporter for simply stating facts and preaching unity. The people are ready!

Ogani festival is done by angwa/ungwa people right?

I heard they're from Kano state.

Before Audu came from Jos and became a Commissioner while we were under Benue state in order to compensate the Igalas because they had a significant population in Benue. His appointment was plainly based on his popularity as an Igala elite. A former commissioner cannot be "unknown" within the political spheres of his state.

"Ibro carpenter" was only a derogatory slogan used by ANPP supporters to belittle Ibrahim Idris in 2003 because he had a huge furniture manufacturing company. Before then, he was well known in Kogi East. He was based in either Sokoto or Gombe then and whenever he comes home, he comes with at least two cars that are rarely seen on Nigerian roads. He was popular for his wealth then and he was seen as the only person with the financial war chest to tackle the "highly rude and disrespectful" Audu.

You can't tell me ibro was popular in the east. People saw the likes of Tunde Ogbeha as a threat to Audu than an unknown Ibro then. No one thought Audu could lose to him. Audu na super governor then.

I knew Audu called him carpenter to denigrate him. But he wasn't a force.

Audu's foray into politics was "quiet".

If him like make him be super duper mega governor. If you don't pay Civil Servants, Dem no go vote you for Kogi. We no get plenty companies for Kogi. D ones wey dey, na Chinko and Oyinbo dey run am. Our people na labourers Dem dey serve for those companies. The others dey manage as Okada riders and driver's. So mainly Civil Servants dey power our economy. If Dem no pay Civil Servants, everybody for the state go feel am. So if you get problem with Civil Servants for Kogi, you get problem with everybody. Audu wasn't getting much support from Obasanjo's led PDP back then. The little he had, he spent it on infrastructure. Our people rejected him for a second time due to hunger but they still admit that he is the best theyever had.

Ibro and Audu attended my cousin's wedding in 2003 because they were seeking my Dad's support then and what happened there that day doesn't suggest that Ibro was a nobody. At least till now, Yahaya Bello was overconfident that he would beat Wada because he is an unknown.

My landlord in Kaduna was paid salary through Wada's tenure and he only visit home during Christmas not to talk of mates being paid salaries without working. Ghost working was very high during his tenure.

Even Audu and Ibro sef dey very corrupt.

The voting strength in Kogi belongs to the Igala of Kogi East Senatorial District of the state.

They have used that strength to produce all past elected governors, until death forced a power shift to the Ebira of Kogi Central with the death of Audu in 2015.

With its five local governments; -Ajaokuta, Adavi, Okene, Okehi and Ogori-Magongo, Kogi Central has 409,120 registered voters representing 25% of the registered voters in the state.

In contrast, the nine local governments in Kogi East -Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela/Odolu, Ofu, Olamaboro and Omalahave 804,715 registered voters representing 49% of the total registered voters in the state. Wada, the PDP flagbearer is from Kogi East and also from Dekina Local Government Area which has the largest voting population among the local government areas of the state.

This is expected to play to the advantage of the PDP candidate, who has also chosen his deputy from the Kogi West Senatorial District, another factor that may enhance the chances of PDP in the Okun Yoruba speaking areas.

The people of the zone had complained about marginalization under Bello. Just recently, the Igala socio-cultural group, Igala Cultural and Development Association urged the people of Igalaland to vote for Wada in the election, while accusing Bello of “deliberately sidelining the Igala speaking people in all schemes of things,” in a statement signed by Shuaibu Mohammed, the acting president and Saba Alex Amuda, the secretary of the association.

But Bello’s deputy, Edward Onoja is also from the Igala speaking area and it will be interesting to see if he can help his boss outperform Wada in Kogi East.

Bello had been able to secure the support of a former acting governor of the state and former chieftain of the PDP, Clarence Olafemi, James Faleke, the running mate to the late Prince AbubakarAudu, and business mogul, Jide Omokore, as his foot soldiers in Kogi West which has seven local government areas with 432,515 registered voters.

I laughed earlier at the naive and largely ignorant analyses of the election by my friends and kinsmen from Kogi state, especially the Igalas.

I consider myself a vintage Igala man, and judge Bello as our worst since Kogi state was created.

But, he has the indices and machineries of power on his side.

He is likely to win, and win well.
