Chef / Kitchen Manager

JOB BRIEF
A young healthy food company located in VGC/Ajah axis requires the services of an experienced Chef/Kitchen Manager to oversee the operations of the kitchen and bring fresh innovative ideas to the product offerings of the company. We are looking for a creative individual who has a keen interest in meal preparation and presentation.
The successful candidate must have great culinary and management experience. He or she will have the opportunity to hire and train kitchen staff and also identify external training that will improve the overall operations of the kitchen and business.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 The chef is expected to modify and create new menus as needed and in line with seasonal fruits and vegetables.
 The chef will train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities.
 Kitchen managers need to accurately and easily communicate standards and cooking methods to staff, give orders and speak with customers clearly.
 Ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance; ensure proper safety and sanitation in the kitchen.
 Ability to keep an eye on a lot of elements: food standards, costs, safety, pricing, creating schedules, etc.
 Must possess leadership skills especially at the backend, rallying teammates during heavy shifts, resolving conflicts and getting the job done.
 Keeping work schedules, deliveries, cleaning schedules more organized is crucial to the job.
 Being able to come up with a solution quickly is a needed skill.
 Kitchen managers can expect long days sometimes and much of it on their feet, hence stamina is required.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must live along VGC / Ajah axis.
Certificate from a culinary school or vast experience in food or catering establishments.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
A degree or diploma from a reputable tertiary institution in a related or relevant field
Knowledge of a wide range of recipes and cooking styles.
In-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations.
