"But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come." 1 Timothy 4:7-8

MESSAGE
Godliness is a way of living that manifests the character of God. Man was created in the image of God and it is expected that man should possess the character of God. Paul warned Timothy that in the later days many who claimed to be the Children of God shall depart from the faith and pay attention to seducing spirits and strange teachings involving devilish acts and practices. He encouraged Timothy to hold fast to godliness (1 Timothy 6:11) and to develop a true respect and love for God.

Some people are seen to be professional Christians, that is, they claim to be Christians by mouth but they refused to put to practice their Christianity. Many others are practicing a form of godliness but denied of divine power; they appear to be religious but their understanding and worship of God has little or no effect on their lives.

True godliness, however, is a great gain. It is important in the whole of our lives because it has a promise that covers our present life and also the life to come. Godliness brings protection (1 Samuel 24:1-22); long life (Psalm 91:14-16); promotion (Genesis 37:23-28); prosperity (Joshua 1: etc.

Let us endeavour, in all aspects of our lives on earth, to exercise ourselves unto godliness for it is profitable.
