ONLY SUSTAINABLE EMPOWERMENT CAN DISSUADE THE YOUTH FROM CRIMES -Serah Abdul

The President and Founder of Shamies Usual Heart Foundation has said that only empowerment of Young people can make crime less attractive to them.

speaking at the maiden annual lecture of Shamies Foundation held in Abuja on Thursday, the Founder Serah Abdul opined that the increase in crime rate in Nigeria is a direct result of unemployment and lack of meaningful engagement of the youth, according to her, only serious empowerment and education can serve as a panacea.

She also advocated for a robust policy to ensure that correctional service center fulfilled their mandate in line with international standard in order to rehabilitate and integrate prison inmates and ensuring that they don’t go back to crimes even after jail term.

Miss Abdul urged all stakeholders to build a national consensus through private and public joint stakeholders intelligence sharing to detect and tackle organized crime in Nigeria.
