Nigeria nominates Galadima for CAF post Stories By MONICA IHEAKAM, South Africa Tuesday, November 23, 2010 The Nigeria Football Fedration (NFF) has nominated its former chairman, Ibrahim Galadima, to seek election into the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The endorsement was the government’s reaction to the disgraceful ouster of Amos Adamu from the executive committees of both CAF and FIFA for breaching FIFA’s code of ethics over the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosting bids. Officials said that both the sports ministry and the NFF were in full agreement with Galadima's nomination. “Nigeria is fully backing Galadima to get on the CAF exco. “This was not the case with Ghana, for instance, where the government had a candidate and the FA had another.” •Galadima Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section The official added: “Now, the government has to use its resources to ensure he is elected for Nigeria to still have a voice in international football.” Galadima's nomination, which included his CV, was Monday sent to CAF and so beat the Monday midnight deadline reserved for submission of nominations for the CAF polls. The elections into the CAF executive committee will be conducted in Khartoum, Sudan, in February. Besides Adamu's position, several other positions including that of Togo's Seyi Mememe and Amadou Diakite of Mali are up for grabs. Galadima was Nigeria FA boss between 2002 and 2006. The Kano-born football administrator, known for his forthrightness and integrity, won re-election for another four-year term only for the sports ministry then headed by Ismaila Sambawa to force a re-run of the elections which brought in Sani Lulu. Last year, Galadima headed a special committee which supervised Kano Pillars CAF Champions League campaign. Debutants Pillars reached the semi-finals of Africa's foremost club competition. |

What a shameful country. Galadima was the person who told the local organising committe in Holland that Nigerian fans dont need tickets and they were sold to Ukraine our opponents. We had to hold him hostage. Initially he wanted to bully us thinking he was in Nigeria untill we held him hostage. He is of the same coat with Adamugate. |

You people should shut up . Corruption and Nigeria are inseparable - for example the north have chosen a crook to represent them. what do think will happen in the lower regions of the country. They say when the head is faulty the remaining body is damaged. Your only hope GEJ has decided to surround himself with crooks like anneih . In Nigeria righteousness or righteous person don't exist - it is a case of lesser evil It is only a fool that would expect good to come out of evil. I am not surprised. |
