[quote author=Sanchez01 post=84514703] If you are not planning on traveling PLEASE DON'T MAKE HER GO. If she plans on being miserable just because of that then let her be. If she needs to be reminded that she is a wife and not some teenager anymore then by all means do. It doesn't make sense that a married woman habitually spends time away from her husband and kids in the name of Christmas celebration in her village and no one, not even her parents or siblings can point that out. I wonder what her parents tell her when she shows up annually. I honestly find this nauseating. Her immediate family comes first.[/quote Thank u may God bless you.i have been looking foward for the elder sis or bros to talk to her but all i hear them saying is we be travelling 22 or 23. Pls i copied this thread and sent to her and i believe she is following the thread. If my marriage to her cant give her sense pls let all contributions from nairaland reset her brain.] |

Stop whining. This is not about IMO culture but about you not becoming one with the woman you married. You still live in the 20th century if you compare your marriage with that of your dad. This is once a year visit and the whole cyberspace is hearing it. Your mother visited her parents daily so there is no justification for her to sleep for a week during the Christmas period. Can you say same for your wife who has been with you the whole year without seeing her parents ,siblings and other extended family members? Your wife is family oriented and what you need to do is to channel it to your side of the family too. If you are fun to be with, I do not thing she will conjure the idea of traveling at all. The whole adaption and sacrifice should not only be left for the woman to make. This is what she grew up with and will take time to stop. And I won't recommend she stops as I do not support delineating a person from families because someone is feeling uncomfortable. This is what she is used to and it will take a great deal of explanation and understanding for her to agree. What people do not understand is that an adult is an adult whether married or single. You cannot tell or command an adult to do your bidding especially if the adult has the means to do so. Rather you reason with the adult to see things from your perspective. Have you sat her down to explain to her how you feel about her traveling this Christmas. Every individual deserves a change of environment, scenery and people at most yearly. If your alternative is staying back in your area with the same people and same environment, and if you are living in Lagos same pollution: then your solution is not palatable and will be very depressing for a fun-loving woman who enjoys a more lively Christmas celebration with family. If your wife has a vindictive persona, na you go drop them at her papa house for next year's Christmas celebration. How about taking your young family for a one week vacation to somewhere more fun? 9 Likes |

Why can’t you go with her? Don’t you guys plan your holidays You mean you want her to completely forget her roots because of marriage. Well... If there is enough money then you can plan to go as a family now. Imo and Anambra are not that far. You can spend time in each other’s village and come home together. I don’t see the big deal in all this if this is what you both are into? 6 Likes |

Pls let her go. My sister visits home, atimes with the hubby and the distance cannot be compared to the one you are even complaining of. You can go with her, spend few days and return (depending on your work) while she and the kids spend more days. 6days travel is not too much for you to cope. From what you have said the marriage is seven years, maybe when the marriage is ten years you can tell her to reduce such visits, or visit during school holidays. akpunda86: 2 Likes 1 Share |

akpunda86: Thats not how its done. The main celebrations should be with you wherever you are whether its in your village or the city. However, she should be allowed to visit her people too but it should be after the celebrations. if she must go during the festivities it is not right for her to always sleep over every year. She should realize that she is now married she has a new family now. If you are the type that always travel home during xmas, then she wont have any choice than follow you. And if she decides to see her people at most 2 days is enough. The end of year festivities starts from 25th to 2nd that is exactly 7 days. Whats the point if she will spend the whole time with her people. She is free to spend time with her people before or after the celebrations. 1 Like |

You this Anambra man, you must be a serial nag. In 2017, your wife betrayed your trust. She was irritating you. You wanted to go back to your ex-gf and bring in your daughter from another woman... Same 2017, you were here to complain of the disunity in your family house. Yet you want your wife to go to same house. Dec 2018, you wanted to return her bride price and you ran to tell us. Seems you must involve NL in all your family affairs. How old are you, Sir? Nov 2019, you were here yet again! This time to complain of poor hygiene of some fat woman. This is Dec 2019, you are here again. Oga, what is the problem? Were you both forced to marry? 11 Likes 2 Shares |

NwaAmaikpe: Yeah, after one year in a foreign country where you have been occupying a little apartment with five other friends, you come back to demonstrate your power shagging someone else's wife feeling like a king for one month to go back to live a life at the bottom of a society for another 11 months so that you have some Naira for Christmas. 3 Likes |

Mindfulness: No. Make the woman kuku change hers and the kids surname to her own father's name Since she has family too. Because i dont know what else to tell you if you see nothing wrong in a wife spending the entire end of the year festivities with her people every year. When the husband is still alive. |

You guys should have Christmas together as a family. How do you have joy when you’re not together during the most festive time of the year? In my opinion, if you must travel, then once in a while, travel together to one family for the holidays and then alternate to the other family the next year. But for the most part , you guys ought to be together as one. 2 Likes |

PuZZyNegro: It is expected that she travels to her village this season. Reason being that, this is the period her other siblings, cousins, friends, extended family, old school classmates, etc., usually come home. So, a great opportunity to meet with people she has not met for a long time. and what is special there ,that she can't spend Xmas with her own nuclear family!!..all this people wey carry village for head ,na Dem village people dey reason pass 1 Like |
