The history of the India national football team dates back to the 1920s. They have never played in the World Cup, although they qualified for one in 1950.

In 2017, Jeakson Singh etched his name in the history books of Indian football forever as he scored India’s first-ever goal in a FIFA competition. Well, that was the story the world believe. In Nigeria, most of us believe that the Indian National team didn't score their first-ever goal in a FIFA competition in 2017, they scored 99 goals against the Nigerian National team a long time ago.

No matter where you were born or where you spend your youthful days, you must have heard the story of how India defeated Nigeria 99 goals to one.

One of those myths some people insisted was true, along with India kicked out 100m Olympics because they won as soon as the start gun went off. lol.

You didn't add

That the eventual one goal scorer for Nigeria died on the pitch. As the ball turned to a huge Stone and he still went ahead to kick it and scored..

That whenever the Indians plays shoot towards Nigeria goal post, it turns to lion and our keeper will run away grin

Baseless crap we were made to believe cheesy

Samuel okwaraji kicked the ball and died on the pitch cry when we all know that Okwaraji died in Afcon qualifier, the person that wrote that script deserve Oscar award grin

And also another pseudo story to be worried about is how Abacha was killed with apple, that fallacy story is so critical that even the knowledgeable people still argue about it.. undecided

Another one is how Buhari traveled to London for medical and died there in 2017 and the presido we have is jubril from Sudan cheesy Naija I hail you

The story was basically cooked up to deify Samuel Okwaraji, who sacrificed his life to bring glory to his country. As it turns out, Nigeria only emerged from its epoch of oral history a few years ago when the internet and social media went mainstream. Until then, it was nearly impossible for the average person to verify the facts behind myths like this, so it was easy for the fictitious story to spread perpetually across towns and villages.
