Kwanza: Then the country should be fenced round with modern border fence. Don't tell me it's impossible to fence the country. If they can lay oil pipe from South to North through thick forest and rivers, our borders can equally be fenced. The truth is that some of our leaders are benefiting from the porous border so they won't make such proposal. I believe it will be done one day. And until it is done, our fight against insecurity will be a futile effort. 2 Likes |

anonimi: Yea , we need modern technology to check our borders, there are up to like 50 of which I know here in Taraba that u will not find any security agents there presently, maybe they aware but only allow it for their pockets I don't know...but the closure is premature and not serious one, because we need more technologies maybe like drones patrol to check our borders , else govt will only enriched the smugglers who follows longer route presently and are still very much in the biz with the supports of some member of our security operatives(corruption) |

[quote author=UnitedNigeriaUN post=84580170]You can decide to throw my opinion in the trash bin, but sooner than later, Reality shall surface. During the Fulani Herdsmen menace, so many people were massacred in Benue State (the linking State between the North & South East). The killings was a strategy to free up enough space for Jihadists from the Neighboring Countries. This militants will take the South East with full force. The Herdsmen menace stopped instantly as the Northern States agreed to giveout lands for Ruga Settlements. The biggest Settlement will be situated in the middle belt (Benue). The space provided for RUGA will be occupied by foreign Jihadist Militants and their families from Neighboring countries like Niger, Mali & Chad. From Benue, the South Eastern part of the Country will be brought to stand still. The Militants will be provided with various weapons which will be used to bring the South Eastern part of the Country to full summation. While their plans is being perfected behind the scene, they assigned online trolls to cause destabilization between the Southwesterners and the Southeasterners. Crazy enough, this trolls are winning, especially the Southeasterners (falling too cheap for the propaganda of Enthnical divide). Meanwhile, the South Western part of the Country is fully infiltrated by Jihadists who are only waiting for order from their Commander before commencing on menace. Why will the Government be opting for death as penalty for hate speech? Reality will soon set and they want no one to chip a beep about this demonic agenda. Here is my Say. THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE COUNTRY MUST UNITE NOW OR ELSE, YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN SHALL SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF REFUSING TO MAKEUP. Are you doubting me? Go check the history of Turkey. Shalom! The borders were closed to divert Nigerians mind from what is currently going on in the Northern illegal borders. Militants are droving in in thousands so as to occupy the space provided by Ruga. [b]South Nigerians must Unite now or be ready to be Massacred[ foolish propaganda without logic no evidence.. This is one of the things this hate speech bill should take care of,lazy folks sit in the comfort of their room to ditch out unverifiable news to create chaos in the land, is a pity |

Danwakae:You're right. But Nigeria has the population to cover that aspect, if the government wants to man the borders. Out of the 200 million population, employ like 200,000 or 300,000 people, this problem will be history. After all, we have many unemployed graduates who are willing and able to do the job. 1 Like |

paix: Yea, they will not want to employ that number for many reasons and mainly for them to have pockets money... Even 30k Mininmum wage is war let alone employing more ...they only closed the border to make neighbouring countries answerable for huge amount making as a results of our old system of sea port operations, the delay and porous borders...any other story is a lie 1 Like |

Danwakae: Nigeria is a huge country both in land mass and population, no doubt about it. This however, should never be seen as an excuse for our borders to be porous and unmanned. Is Nigeria any bigger than Brazil,China, Russia ,USA etc ? For your information,South Africa has bigger land mass than Nigeria and they effectively manned their borders even with fewer population. It is not about the size of the country, but it's about doing the right thing. Nigeria has continually failed to do the right thing concerning her borders. There are millions of illegal immigrants from Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Senegal etc in the north and who have fraudulently become Nigerians. This is made possible by cultural and religious affiliation these people have with the local population. Successive Nigerian governments have refused to address this problem due to lack of political will and other primitive sentiments. Nigeria is not too big not to be able to effectively control what and who comes in and goes out of its borders. There are several countries with bigger land mass than Nigeria even in Africa here. So it is shameful for us to begin to see that as our excuse. That is not tenable please ! 2 Likes |

anonimi: Which being ?? , maybe you don't know what I am taking about , we are taking about forests that stretch to various states and countries in Africa u are taking about human being , there is no human living there , I mean desert , forests , if u want to send operatives there , they must be trained because of the terrain , no water and how many can they mount ??... But drones survielance can do it joined with other tech, that's what most countries use, The USA which is bigger than West Africa , also use space defence and walls on the sea and land borders , u are here saying human, can u stay in that forest for a day ??, Maybe u have not even been to the north before. |

kjhova: I weep for this country and the people who deliberately twist information. I wonder if Badagry, Epe, Warri, Patani, Sapele, Port Harcourt, Eket and Oron are part of the north. These places I mentioned were part of the porous borders the Senator mentioned but the reporter and the editorial board mischeviously gave the article a misleading title. I do not have the facts as to which of the borders are most porous, whether the northern or southern borders, however anybody with the reliable statistics should avail us of the facts and take ownership of such authorship. It is the height of mischief and unprofessionalism to twist another person's interview to suit the false narratives of a reporter. 1 Like |

Chibuzoc: That is not exactly what was said. As usual, our journalists or maybe in this case, the moderator has made kindergarten mistakes in publishing/posting this. The man actually touched on the porosity of virtually all Nigerian borders. Check out the statement below. It is unbelievable that an article that has this kind of statement is titled as above or that it is being bandied around as such. If we eventually down this country, our eyes go clear. We go know say, no be North versus South "“The Malabo routes are still unmanned, effort by the Navy is on Rice and Petroleum products, nothing is heard of arms smuggling which is also prevalent on water routes, from Badagry, to Epe, to Warri, to Patani, Sapele, Port Harcourt, Eket, Oron to Lokoja, down to Adamawa and Kebbi inland waterways, all with weak security”, Fadahunsi said." |
