Kano Free Education: Ganduje Evaluates Process, Implementation by Tobiwakawaka: 6:24pm On Dec 04, 2019
As a show of commitment and seriousness of the state free and compulsory primary and secondary schools education policy, particularly the process and implementation aspects of it, the Kano state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje met with the Headmasters of Primary schools in the state, among other stakeholders, at his office.
Under their association, Association of Primary Schools Headmasters of Nigeria (AOPSHON), they were called by the governor to his office, and he received first hand information about the progress so far, as well as the implementation itself of the policy at hand.

He directed them to be as open as possible, concerning their overall assessment of the policy, particularly as it affects their schools. That was done in the presence of the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Danlami Hayyo and other critical stakeholders. He directed them to brief him without any fear of intimidation.

Ganduje believes that evaluation, from his end, at this point in time is absolutely necessary and timely, as the policy takes off, which needs close monitoring and evaluation at different intervals. The interaction with him gave clearer picture of strong areas and challenges that are real and perceived.

During the interactive session, governor Ganduje assured all the stakeholders, who were there under the chairmanship of the Free and Compulsory Education Committee Chairman, State Head of Service, Dr Kabiru Shehu, that, he would not relent in making sure that the programme succeed. "We should also make sure that, not only that the policy succeeds during our time, but let it become a sustainable project for the overall development of our state. We should therefore do everything humanly possible for the policy to be sustained," he said.
