Lagos has been the closest thing to Silicon Valley in Nigeria but it can’t really fit that name because the city is way too crowded and is not the most pleasant of cities to reside in (unless you’re a very strong person physically, psychologically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually…). Nevertheless, there is a city in Nigeria, that’s calm, beautiful, enterprising, industrious, entertaining, full of opportunities, fast-growing and young. That city is Uyo and she could possibly be Nigeria’s Silicon Valley.

Uyo is the state capital of Akwa Ibom State, located in the south-south geopolitical zone in Nigeria. It was once known ONLY for its oil-producing use prowess until (now) Senator Godswill Akpabio(2007–2015) gave the state this new reputation of infrastructural development and beauty.

It is important to note that Uyo is seriously leaning towards tech. Notable figures like Mark Essien(hotels.ng), Aniedi Udo(Google), Hanson Johnson(Google), with help, we hear, from Ime Archibong(facebook), and a lot more are interested in making the city more like Silicon Valley. And the present Akwa Ibom State Government show sentiments supporting this.
