Startup is the time it takes to load your computer (boot) once it is turned on. This includes the time it takes to load Windows, and start any other scheduled programs. The longer you own a Windows PC, the slower it boots up. This is because you will likely install numerous applications on your computer over time. The problem is that many programs you buy from stores or download from the Internet will install programs or services that start up automatically whenever Windows starts. For every item that loads at startup, more system resources are required. This slows down the overall startup time. So after a while, starting Windows also means starting lots of other stuff that runs in the background. If your computer has lots of memory, you might not notice too much of a startup delay. And of course some applications are justified in automatic startup--antivirus programs, Windows processes, and other security software being good examples. But a lot of applications start up programs or services when they really aren't needed, and those are the culprits you probably want to ferret out and eliminate. If your PC is taking longer at startup than it used to, it may be that there are too many programs scheduled to run at that time. so you can boost performance by easily disabling the ones you don't need.

HOW TO ELIMINATE STARTUP PROGRAMS
1. Windows Startup - The most common location that programs will be placed to load automatically is the Windows Startup. To check to see if the program you wish to be removed is loading in the Windows Startup, follow the below steps.
. Click Start / Programs / Startup, if under startup you see the program you wish to remove and you have Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE you can right-click the program and click delete to delete this automatically from your startup menu.

2. System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG) –
   · Click Start → Run
   · In the Open box type msconfig and then click on OK or press Enter
   · Select the Startup tab
   · Locate the start-up entry you want to disable and click on the "tick" in the box beside it to disable it
   · Click OK. If you choose not to restart the changes will occur the next time you re-boot
