Cristiano Ronaldo's sister seemingly reacted furiously via social media after Virgil van Dijk jokingly mocked her brother at the Ballon d'Or gala, but new reports suggest that the Portuguese superstar may have written the enraged response himself.


Van Dijk had questioned whether or not Ronaldo was indeed a "rival" for this year's Golden Ball after being made aware that the five-time winner would not be in attendance at the illustrious gala.
It appeared to be meant as a joke, but Ronaldo's sister seemingly did not see the funny side of it, taking to Instagram to hit back at the Liverpool superstar.



However, her message appears to be a bit suspicious when translated into English, as there are a few mentions of the word "I" in the text written about her brother instead of "he".

So, Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister posted on Instagram a bitter reply to Van Dijk joke.
But...
Was she really the one who wrote that or Cristiano himself?


Apparently there was an earlier post, then edited, that shows Cristiano talking in first person...
However, while beIN SPORTS correspondent Tancredi Palmeri stated that the post from Ronaldo's sister was edited after it seemed to show the player speaking in the first person, the English translation of her post in Portuguese still shows the same uses of "I" and it could potentially just be a matter of meaning getting lost in translation.



Ronaldo himself caused some controversy in Italy on the same night – he reportedly stayed in his car at the beginning of the Serie A awards ceremony and only entered the gala after being announced as the winner of the Most Valuable Player prize.
