Spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina, said The Punch newspaper is free to refer the president by his military rank.

The Special Adviser On Media & Publicity to the President said, "If you decide to call him Major General, he wasn’t dashed the rank, he earned it. So, you are not completely out of order. The fact that you can do so is even another testimony to press freedom in Nigeria."

Major General Muhammadu Buhari the unrepentant tyrant of Daura.

I don't blame him, I blame those who imposed Buhari on us in 2015 using the banner of change and INEC who rigged him in early this year

In as much as vigilance and ventilation are needed to keep our democracy alive, the simple truth is that the real situation is very far from the picture Punch Newspaper is painting. There is freedom of speech in Nigeria and on daily basis tens of anti-government and extremely anti-Buhari articles get published in both print and online media. If there wasn't, staunch critics like Femi Fani Kayode with all his misleading, mischievous and insulting posts would have been in jail.

Unfortunately, DSS personnel got carried away in their bid to tame the defiant Yele Sowore that they tactlessly played into his original intention of making himself a hero of democracy by that act of gangsterism in court premises. Now, the enemies of government including displaced and embittered PDP moneybags have subtly moved into action to discredit Buhari's administration in both local and international media. To counter this dangerous development, I think government should reach out to critical civil society stakeholders to restate its commitments to democratic principles.

However, one thing is certain, because Buhari's presidency is very NECESSARY for the INEVITABLE disruptions of the existing political and economic orders that will make way for new orders, it will survive this onslaught like the ones that came in the past.

Femi Adesina used to be a Pastor before he moved to Abuja in 2015 to work for Maj. General Mohammadu Buhari but if you read his reactions and Press Releases ever since he was asked to com and chop, you will shake your head in utter disbelief about what the man has now become.
I assumed he's now competing with Naira Marley in the weed business

Those around the president should tell him the truth about the worsening cases of human rights abuses and violation of court orders in the country.

What is Sowore still doing in SSS custody? If the service discovered that he committed some offenses other than those that he’s currently standing trial for, why have they failed to charge him to court since last Friday?

Sowore remains a prisoner of conscience. Until he’s released in obedience to a valid court order, Buhari remains an intolerant human right abuser.

undecided undecidedI used to think that this man is learned. Femi Adesina is a typical Nigerian, resignation isn't in his dictionary. TBH, if I were serving this government in any capacity; I would have resigned. The impunity and high-handedness is colossal.

May Allah bless Maj General Mohammadu Buhari, continue your good works Mr President! Enemies of state like Sowore and his likes should be arrested and detained indefinitely and nothing will happen.

Mr President, South West are trying to bring down your government with propaganda because of small Sowore because when you were doing it to others even to the extent of disobeying several court orders and illegally removing a CJN, they were hailing you. Do something about any of these people that are trying to paint you black. Once again, May Allah bless you

You failed to acknowledge the fact that Buhari is either not in charge of his government or highly incompetent. Why did he not sack all those who gave order or are involved in the 'Sowore Saga immediatel? Let call a spade a spade , Buhari no try!

The DSS has better knowledge of national security and risk posed by certain individuals in certain situations than any of us.

The law courts can play their role but above all they must understand that national insecurity threatens their very existence.

Sowore made himself a treasonable felon when he decided to overthrow a democratically elected government barely 3 months after it had been sworn in.

Poignantly, Sowore himself had contested in the very same election in which it was clear he didnt have the mandate of the Nigerian people.

One can say, his very constituency, whether the youth or indeed the Ilaje people voted against him.

Please on what foot does he stand to champion a revolution?

When agents of government cannot respect the constitution they claim to uphold by refusing to comply with valid court orders for instance, that is a major threat to national security. By subjecting itself to the jurisdiction of the court through approaching the court fro an order to detain him pending investigation which was granted for 45 days, charging Sowore to court and responding to his bail application; they are bound to obey the orders of the same court. Nothing stopped the DSS from keeping him under surveillance while he enjoys his bail within the limits set by the court so why trespass into court premises and act like lunatics in a military regime? Are those the kind of people you say know better about national security than you and I? Maybe you though and that tells a lot!

SSS is a creation of law. Therefore, it cannot act outside of the law. SSS is also not a court of law. It cannot on its own convict a suspect or detain a suspect illegally. Once a suspect is charged before a competent court, the normal thing is to allow the court process run its full course. Illegally abducting a suspect that is validly on bail inside a court room is illegal and unacceptable. No matter what, SSS must not be allowed to resort to self help outside the law. It is Sowore today, it could be you tomorrow.
