DTSG SETS TO REVAMP BUSINESS ACTIVITIES IN WARRI

The Delta state government has been commended in its bid to revamp business activities in Warri and its environs with the cleaning up of the area.

The Director of project for the Warri Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency (WUEDA), Mr Bemigho Ofoeyeno gave the commendation in Warri while monitoring the clearing of overgrown weed and the removal of Petroleum tankers along the NPA Expressway.

Describing the Governor Okowa led administration as proactive in establishing the agency with Comrade Ovouzourie Macaulay as the Director General, Mr Ofoeyeno explained that the agency will be more responsive in dealing with the environmental challenges facing the area in the days ahead, adding that the Director General of the agency, Comrade Ovouzourie Macaulay will deliver on the mandate of Governor Okowa's agenda of stronger Delta by providing a conducing environment to live in.

Mr Ofoeyeno disclosed that the ongoing work was the first among series of programmes, mapped out by the agency to keep the metropolis clean.

He therefore appealed to members of the public to support the efforts of the state government in keeping the environment clean by stopping the indiscriminate disposal of waste.

Speaking in the same vein, the Special Adviser to the DG on Technical and Special Duties, Mr Prosper Erah noted that a lot of work needed to be done by the agency to sensitize the environment in its bid to give the residents of Warri and Environs a more befitting area by way of addressing some environmental concerns the Agency has stepped up to intervene.

Grass and other wastes were being removed along the 11.5 kilometres stretch of the NPA Expressway from Effurun Roundabout to the NPA New Port complex.

The exercise which started on Monday, December 16, 2019 was flagged up by the Director General of the agency, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay, Environment Commissioner, Chris Onogba, the chairman and members of the state Waste Management Board, and environment, health officers from Uvwie and Warri South council Areas providing professional advice to the clean up team.
