Mikel Arteta was forced to "continually" stop his first Arsenal training session to tell his players to stop attempting flicks.
Spaniard Arteta was appointed as the new Gunners boss last week to take over from Unai Emery - who was sacked last month.
He watched the Gunners draw 0-0 with Everton on Saturday from the stands before officially being handed the reins on Sunday - where he held his first training session ahead of a busy Christmas period.
One of Arteta's first drills was rondos - a piggy-in-the-middle type exercise, which hones tight passing and control.
But a number of the Gunners stars attempted to flick the ball to their teammates to avoid the defenders rather than pass as they would during a match.
This angered Arteta who, according to David Ornstein of the Athletic, said: "You don't do this during the match, so why are you doing it now?"
"Put your foot on it, even if it takes a split second longer and play the pass!"
It appears a follow-up to the drill was captured on Arsenal's official YouTube's video of the training session.
Lacazette asks Arteta if he should try an audacious back-heeled flick - to which the head coach responds by waving his hands and saying no.
The Gunners boss goes on to clear up what he was asking for, saying: "No flick, body shape and play on."
Arteta will be in the dugout for the first time on Boxing Day when the north London side travel to Bourne mouth.
