According to reports, the fatal incident occurred after a truck conveying beer collided with an 18-seater bus. The severity of the collision set the bus ablaze, burning the deceased persons to the death.

Four people including three commuters who were by the accident scene sustained serious injuries and were quickly taken to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Asaba – capital of Delta state.

Recounting the incident, an eyewitness called Miracle said that the driver of the truck was moving on high speed when he went off his lane, collided with a vehicle, and then ran over the bus. The force threw the bus into multiple somersaults before it went up in flames.
