Ag Governor flags off N40b tourism resort

The acting Governor of Delta State Prince Sam Obi today turned the sand (ground breaking) for the construction of a 40 billion naira tourism and leisure centre in Oleri village in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The project is a joint venture partnership between the State Government and SARNER, an international company that specialized in tourism.

While Delta State Government will construct the roads and bridge leading to the project site, SARNER will fund the construction of all the facilities in the tourism and leisure centre.
In his remarks, the former Governor of the State Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan said adequate funds have been reserved for the completion of the project.

Dr Uduaghan said he made sure that SARNER had the total fund for the construction of the project before the contractual agreement.

He said the project will bring tremendous development to the community and enjoined youths in the area not to disrupt construction work under any guise.

Dr Uduaghan who enjoined the foreign partner to employ large percentage of Nigerians, also urged the company not to delay the project.

Where are the lawyers in the house,is Uduaghan in any capacity to speak and make the kind of assertion he made above,secondly will somebody please tell me the implication of the monumental gaffe the seemingly confused prince Sam Obi has been making since he found himself occupyiing the seat of the Governor

@rasputinn,

this is very dangerous, and must be corrected straight away. the press should be get wind of this. this is more than a gaffe, in my opinion sackable
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by excanny: 10:25am On Dec 01, 2010
Uduaghan is still in power, nothing has changed. This looks like another scheme to milk the resources of the Delta state people dry. Why is there a deliberate blurr on how much the tourism company will spend and how much the govt will spend on constructing roads , which is their part of the deal. I hope the N40bn will not said to have been spent on constructing some shabby roads. God help in Nigeria. These thieves are not giving up.

Like the rich young ruler asked"what must I do to be saved",I ask,what must Deltans do to be freed from the strnglehold of the evil Ibori/Uduaghan cabal in Delta state

This is why I have said the fight against corruption must be total, It must not be personalised because the problem is institutionalised and runs deep. Emmaluel don fall una hand again. Ask yourselves a very simple question, who put the speaker in power.
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by blacksta(m): 9:26pm On Dec 02, 2010
things like this only happens in nigeria - u will not find such any where else- hence i am not surprised

Tourism resort in Delta??

Make I laugh small fest.
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by sochan: 9:40pm On Dec 02, 2010
Well, we are taking the fight to them, but Deltans have to come out and lay claim to thier state. Uduaghan will not succeed. There is not point in us sitting down here and complaining, if we are not prepared to go out and vote. What a lot of us do on sites like this is complain and point fingers at the problem.

Delta has bundles of tourist potential and attractions. That does not mean this project is not another avenue for 'kill & divide'.

In that regard,I guess the election is between Ogboru and Uduaghan,whilst there's widespread disafffection for Uduaghan whom most Deltans see as a collosal failure,Ogboru has not bothered to sell himsel to the electorate in the three senatorial districts of Delta state.Even in Abraka(his home town),you hardly see any signs of serious preparation for election,i.e campaign offices for the co-ordination of his camapign,not to talk of Warri,Asaba,Agbor,Escravos etc
There's also a lack of public enlightenment adverts in the print and on mass media,Ogboru should sit up and reach out to members of the PDP also especially commissioners,assemblymen and other politicians who Uduaghan has dealt with in the past by scheming them out of the scheme of things,as I'm sure Deltans are ready to vote out Uduaghan
Ogboru should lead the way and Deltans will follow
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by sochan: 10:30pm On Dec 02, 2010
@Sapeleguy,

there is no doubt that there is massive potential for tourism in Delta state, but I seriously doubt that uduaghan is the man to harness those potentials. Just as you have suggested, another opportunity to milk the state dry
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by sochan: 10:38pm On Dec 02, 2010
@Rasputinn,
It has not been easy. However, Ogboru has started. I gather he has been working from the grassroots, which as everyone knows is key. however he is due in Warri on the 7th, and I gather the show is going to be big and strong. The momentum is gradually gathering, and i have no doubt that in the next 30 days things will be a lot different.

for those who are interested, a facebook page has been started, feel free to join and air your views. Alos read and get a feel for the kind of person you will be dealing with.

My brothers and sister, Great has been asking some very critical questions most have been avoiding.

@ Sapeleguy,

Have you seen the coastline of Somalia? Very beautiful!

Point being, I couldn't care less what natural beauty resides in Delta, Bayelsa etc. They surely are better ways to waste money than developing tourism in insecure environments.
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by Ibime(m): 11:52pm On Dec 02, 2010
Any Business analyst that can project footfall that would see Delta State break even on any tourism project of this magnitude will get a hot slap from me.
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by excanny: 12:37am On Dec 03, 2010
Quite some good points you made there, Ibime. Why set up 'tourism' centres were there are no security. Surely, some of the criminal 'pipeline' laid to siphon off the treasures of Delta state.
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by SapeleGuy: 2:23am On Dec 03, 2010
Ibime, that is pure pessimism, healthy scepticism would have been better.

London, Spain and other countries lived with the constant threat of terrorism and developed tourism.
I have personally been on a holiday to Beirut, they have made terrific progress.

To take your point further, Amaechi should stop his plans in PH because there are militants and cultists there. A few years ago PH was a war zone but things change.
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by otokx(m): 7:53am On Dec 03, 2010
Call a spade, a spade, Uduaghan like his elder brother are just big time criminals. If not for GEJ he should be cooling his heels at EFCC. You can see that he has paid that phantom company all the money up front for work not started with a caveat that the state government should build roads and bridges which they will not.

Good point

I think he's just being candidly objective
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by sochan: 9:27am On Dec 03, 2010
Ibime,

Has an excellent point. I was recently talking to someone who had an extremely profitable business in Warri, but things have changed. All the big business that he did work with, had all moved out from Warri and there was not sign that things were about to improve.

However there are other more peaceful places in the state that we can start with, but critically security must be tackled head on, and beloeve me it is possible.
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by omojand: 12:46pm On Dec 03, 2010
Tourism shouldn't be the priority investment in delta state. There are 101 other ventures that would make much more sense.

Now they will purchase huge generators to power the facility and post heavily armed guards to protect tourists,  right?

Did they even bother to find out what has become of that massive tourist complex built by D.Duke in Rivers before commiting to yet another white elephant project?
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by sochan: 1:07pm On Dec 03, 2010
@omojand,

very true. There are so many other options, than tourism @ that scale. What about agriculture, education, even transporation.

Has anybody seen those annoying stickers on some vehicles being used by shameless boi bois of Uduaghan,especially aides of that gutless,lilly-livered ex SSG;Arthur Okowa.Heard it reads something like;

"WARNING:Uduaghan is fully in charge,if you think otherwise,na you sabi"

angry angry angry angry

What could be the rationale behind this very annoying nonsense
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by sochan: 7:28pm On Dec 06, 2010
@rasputinn,

No mind all those deadenders, they are all on thier way out. Uduaghan can not come back, and neither can Okowa. Bunch of Thieves
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by rasputinn(m): 9:31pm On Dec 07, 2010
I need Great Ogboru's number,I need to speak with him with regards to the forth-coming elections,I just can't imagine that short devil called Emma Uduaghan returning to government house Asaba
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by Ibime(m): 12:35am On Dec 08, 2010
Shouldn't Udughan as an election cheat be jailed or at least barred from contesting again.

Oga Rasputtin, are you suggesting that Emma would contest next year?
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by rasputinn(m): 4:56am On Dec 08, 2010
^^^

Far from it

In an ideal situation,Uduaghan should not only be barred from the polls,he should be in DETENTION right now,to amongst other things,account for the billions of naira of Delta state funds he ILLEGALLY spent/misapplied,but unfortunately we operate in far-from-ideal circumstances and for reasons of political convenience,GEJ/EFCC have refused to ARREST,DETAIN and CHARGE that short treasury looter called Emma Uduaghan,who is so corrupt,arrogant and full of himself

This is very annoying
Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by sochan: 7:09pm On Dec 08, 2010
@Rasputinn,

Relax, Emma is in a lot of trouble. The short ugly thief will be jailed.

See what happened whne Ogboru came to Warri.

Emmanual was hated by even his friends, often heard boasting that everyone knows I am wicked. Well this time the wicked devil is off to Hell

Re: Ag Governor Of Delta State Is Confused by rasputinn(m): 5:02am On Dec 14, 2010
More confusion by the acting governor shocked shocked shocked

The acting governor of Delta state, Prince Sam Obi has announced that a test run programme for the Asaba International Airport will start soon.

Prince Obi who announced this while inspecting the airport explained that the designed programme would ensure that an aircraft bearing the former governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan shocked shocked shocked , the Speaker Barr. Basil Ganagana and himself would fly from the airport to Abuja.

He promised that the State Government would give the necessary financial assistance to contractors to enable them speedingly complete on-going projects in the state and expressed satisfaction at the level of work at the airport.
