Insecurity: FG plans to withdraw Military
THE Federal Government on Monday said that it would begin a gradual withdrawal of the military operations in the northeastern part of the country where the Boko Haram terrorists have been attacking people for almost a decade.

The withdrawal of troops will be done after an “assessment” to determine areas where peace has returned to enable civil authorities to assume full control of security.

The government after the end of Security meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said that the pullout will allow civil authority – police and civil defence to assume their responsibility in the affected areas “since the terrorists have been degraded.”

The Council decided that in place of the military, the Nigeria Police Force, which has the primary responsibility of providing internal security, will assume its duties fully in such areas

Briefing to State House correspondents after the closed-door council meeting the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas Obok said that the council agreed that the security agencies have performed well in 2019.

According to him, “It is our wish to have the insurgency and terrorism ended in 2020 so that the military will focus on other areas.

“The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps will support the police to provide internal security.

The withdrawal of military troops should be a gradual process and not to be rushed, they keep saying peace has returned to some places but we still hear of kidnappings and killings still going on even of the military men. Mr President shouldn't rush this decision

Boko Haram should be allowed to have peace.

Chisos!

Withdraw what??

This is totally unacceptable and a crazy and stupid thing to do by this clueless government without direction.

Just come to Borno and see how these terrorists kill daily. Only Maiduguri metro is relatively peaceful.

With boko haram terrorist becoming ever more dangerous with enough man power (no thanks to repentant terrorist), controling territories and manning them with sophisticated weapons no thanks to millions of euro funding from buhari and the islamist regime is already thinking of withdrawing soldiers?
Anyway I'm not surprised. The grand patron and boko haram chosen negotiator is in power.

Are you scared?. Why Buhari is reducing the no of troops in first quarter 2020 is money. Security is costing Nigeria N700bn in allowances, fuel and food alone. I think Boko is largely defeated. The super camp strategy is working . If they just receive more choppers, they will wrap up the nonsense.
It is also funny that France is reducing their troops and the US is closing their Niger Republic drone base.
Better to shut up and watch

If you're in a hurry to harvest the yam, you will be the one to bend down to bring out the broken pieces. US was in a hurry to leave Iraq after the occupation(Defeated Al Qaeda), so they trained some Iraqi forces to take over. What happened next? ISIS came! Now you want police to take over, that Bokoharam has been degraded but you have not captured or killed Shekau, you have not discovered who their sponsors are but you wanna create a vacuum? Are you wise at all? Where are the Chibok girls?

If the plan on withdrawing military that means they should also be ready to shut down IDP camps. The resetting process should commence if they believe the area safe.
