This post is true but as long as the song makes sense, the song duration is not to be worried about. Joeboy is good--- Don't call me back, baby, all for you and beginning have all been on replay on my phone 2 Likes 1 Share |

Burna boy creates good music. I dont think it has anything to do with the decline in attention span but the lyrics. A great artist knows how to carry you along with the fluid effect in his/her words , be it a topic on love or just a random issue but the magic occurs in the hooks and choruses. It's a thing you find in movies too. Cliffhangers. In my opinion it's about the money now not the content and these kind of songs are easily forgotten. A wise man said “ Easy come. Easy go” 3 Likes 1 Share |

I think the reason for Joeboy's short songs is because of the visualizations. The longer the song, the higher the cost of the visualization. A 3-minute entertaining script is also harder to write. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Omo see potential hustle oo If you know how to help musicians get more streams you can charge them for it oo Anyway I am looking for makeup artists, hair stylists and nail artists to work with. I help them get more clients and grow their brand on social media. If you know anyone please let me know. |

Attention span didn't drop, what changed was the volume of information. - how else would you explain people who commit their time to binge watching a whole netflix series in one sitting. Which is BTW 20x longer than 3 minutes. If the music is uninteresting, the shorter it is, the better for it. No one can bear listening to mainstream Nigerian songs for too long without getting jaded. Its a false premise. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Viciyke00:The problem is the decreasing attention span. Instead of people to interact they are busy with their phone and this may lead to psychological disorder in the future. That's why the world needs psychologists |

As far as I am concerned, they're short because the messages being passed, if there are any at, all are irrelevant. In that 3mins, musical interlude takes about 1:15.... The singer says something and people repeat it twice and then the time is up.. How many Nigerian Artiste makes their music short because they put the 'attention sustenance theory' into consideration? I bet many of them are not even aware if it, so it would seem like someone is trying to explain away their ignorance. I have listened to Cobham's 'ordinary people' and I know the lyrical content of most of his songs are rich. This particular song is beyond 3mins and my attention is still sustained. Those other guys songs are short because they don't have anything to say other than what they have been saying: babe, money, waist etc Even if naira Marley's song is 20 secs, my attention can never be sustained for 2secs. Thank God for worship songs that lifts one's soul and spirit. Not all this gbam-gbam dim-dim people listen to these days. 6 Likes 1 Share |

No content and creativity! Eminem's Lose Yourself is 5 minutes 32 seconds. Kemdrick Lamar's "To love-vendor a Butterfly" album contains 16 tracks and has a runtime of 1hr 18 minutes 51 seconds..thats an average of 4.9minutes per track. Back home... Timi Dakolo's "The vow" has a runtime of 5 minutes 11 seconds, Tuface's Ihe Neme has 4 minutes 14 seconds and Asa's Jailer 4 minutes 8 seconds.... These I believe canot be placed in the same league with the songs the OP mentioned... The better the artist, the better the content... 3 Likes |

This is why we can't win Grammy our Songs die off quickly imagine me I still listen to fela and still sounds like real music to my ear even his on femi' bang bang made sense..Grammy are not stupid, burna boy is the only I feel might try to produce something close..Asa was also a great musician..the rest are just Dere..this Joe boy and fire boy DML u are shouting are getting recognition because this indomie generation value noise and chorus than music.. Let me just stick to Everyday Life by Coldplay and some jamz by oluwa Burna..not Joe boy that will be singing like adekunle Gold |

sprints1:I agreed with you to a certain level here until I read your last sentence, a second time. By saying 2 Baba you meant 2face? Abi another baba maybe Baba Ijebu . If not , kindly modify your statement because I've never heard any Nigerian artiste that started with the likes of Faze and ID Cabasa or even danfo drivers just to mention a few that still makes great hit and relevant in the industry until now. To call him 2baba shows you agree he is a legend. Don't become a fake Amaka now, please. |
