Futility of mind is when a man is forever and always trying to figure out how to be happy, while he is an enemy of God. Futility is the way of the world; they are full of thoughts that are empty, vain, and useless. Yet as Christians we are to put away futility of mind as Paul says in Ephesians 4:17, “you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.”

God is good and kind both to believers and non-believers alike (Matthew 5:45). Having said that, the Bible says that just because He is kind to His enemies doesn't mean all is well with them. Twice in the book of Isaiah, God says there is no peace for the wicked (Isaiah 48:22 and Isaiah 57:21). So they may enjoy good gifts from God, but if they do not repent of their sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, they will spend eternity in Hell (John 3:18).
