LADY EVELYN BALOGUN FOUNDATION PLEDGES SUPPORT TO NATIONAL YOUNGEST GOLD MEDALIST

President and Founder of a front line Non Governmental Organisation, Lady Evelyn Balogun Foundation, Her Royal Majesty, Lady Evelyn Balogun, has expressed her readiness to throw her weight behind Nigeria's youngest gold medalist, Deborah Quickpen.

Her Majesty, made her intention known while receiving Deborah, her parents, and her support group, Team Deborah Quickpen, on Monday, at her residence in Yenagoa.

Lady Evelyn Balogun, who recently won several awards in the state for her roles in assisting the less privileged in Bayelsa and other philanthropic activities, congratulated Deborah for her feat at last year's African Chess Championship in Windhoek, Namibia, where she finished as the seventh in the Continent and first in West Africa.

She described the gold medalist as an amazing talent, with a bright future, urging her not to relent, but continue in her quest of becoming a World Champion in Chess, as she assured the Team Deborah Quickpen Group, of her willingness to assist her, whenever the need arises.

Speaking to Deborah, Her Majesty said "You have done well, but you have to do more, and I believe you will soon become a World Champion in your category, because those that are doing it don't have two heads, so you can do it, and let me tell you that you are not alone, we are here with you".

Her Royal Majesty, also commended Deborah's parents, Mr and Mrs Ben Quickpen, for raising their daughter properly despite numerous challenges facing them, adding that they will surely reap the fruit of their labour.

Earlier, Deborah's Promoter and Coordinator of Deborah Quickpen Support Group, Patrick Ndubuisi, expressed his gratitude to Her Royal Majesty, Lady Evelyn Balogun, for the warm reception given to the team, describing her as one of the few personalities with a kind heart, and always available to assist those in need.

Also speaking, Director General of the Team Deborah Quickpen Support Group, Ada Gwegwe, remarked that Deborah would have finished top in her category in Namibia, but for the strange environment and company since it was her first time out, adding that hopefully, she will do well in future competitions.

Team Deborah Quickpen Support Group, presented a branded Team Deborah Quickpen jersey to Her Majesty, Lady Evelyn Balogun, for her role in touching lives of Bayelsans and beyond, her Majesty was accompanied by Mr Joel Ahoada among others.
