US Senate Money Laundering Investigations: Atiku Campaign Reacts To Allegations Against Jemila Atiku Posted: December 4, 2010 - 00:13 Saharareporters Atiku Campaign Organization Atiku In The Kangaroo Court Of Political Opponents: Ordinarily we would have ignored the report captioned “US: Atiku Abubakar In $40 Million Money-Laundering Accusation With Wife, Jennifer” carried by Saharareporters and circulated by mischief makers as it was an outright lie and obvious manipulation of information to smear the rising profile of the former Vice President and the PDP frontline presidential aspirant in the 2011 election. First, it was very obvious from the write-up that the report was ill intended and a smear campaign against the former Vice President and his family. These allegations are not original. They are rehashed by political enemies to smear Atiku as a formidable challenger to the incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan. The U.S Congress did not charge Atiku or members of his family with any wrong doing. If these were the case, that would have led to indictment and criminal charge. We all know how the United States operates globally. America not only shares information with its partners all over the world, America can get an erring man or woman from any part of the world and subject them to criminal trial whether such persons are U.S. citizens or not. The report has not established that Atiku made the money in question, or any money in his possession illegally or from sources of criminal origin. Even before becoming a vice president, Atiku Abubakar had huge business interests and has global investments estimated at millions of US Dollars. Even before becoming a vice president, he was able to meet his needs in life based on his legitimate earnings from his investments. Atiku had served under a very hostile and vindictive president and therefore, he couldn’t have taken any risks, were he so inclined, of stealing money from government when it could potentially be used against him. For whatever reasons, the American authourities seem to have problem understanding that Atiku has his own money, which he transferred to the university and some of his interests in the US and other areas. We have provided enough explanation on this matter but for reasons yet unknown to us to the U.S Senate and from all that we know, the issues that had earlier on been misunderstood have been cleared. The family doesn't have issues with issues with the US Senate or anyone in America concerning this or any other matter. But since this is a season of politics; dirty politics for that matter, there is no way we can stop people from have continued to whip up this old and baseless story for mischief. It is not true that the wife of the former vice president, Mrs. Jemila Atiku Abubakar, has any problem with the authorities either in the US or UAE to warrant either an investigation or arrest and repatriation to the US. As we talk, she is still a very free citizen of the US and legally resident in Dubai. She has no plans to relocate to Switzerland. We also not aware that the US government is pressuring the Dubai authourities to arrest Mrs Abubakar and hand her over to America for trial. Your readers should not be taken for a ride by mischievous politicians. Signed, Atiku Campaign Organisation, Abuja, Nigeria. http://www.saharareporters.com/news-page/us-senate-money-laundering-investigations-atiku-campaign-reacts-allegations-against-jemila |

For whatever reasons, the American authourities seem to have problem understanding that Atiku has his own money, which he transferred to the university and some of his interests in the US and other areas. Damn! Nice one! May I now suggest Atiku goes on holiday to any part of the World thats under US legal jurisdiction or has equivalent legal agreements? That should turn out a truly fun trip! |

We too are frustrated with those pesky Americans! In the meantime sir, please avoid all foreign trips, cos you never know! Just imagine the way the "frigging basta'rds" arrested people on the sly from all over the World, only for them to reappear in orange frocks at gitmo! |
