Where is our SUG President and representative (Senators), we need get of wilderness and into the promised land. It is becoming obvious day by day the current leader ship of the federal polytechnic Bida spearheaded by Dr. Abubakar A. Dzukogi PhD, GTFR, MSc, BA, SSCE, GCE, H2O, MNYZ, METC, is loosing grip on the confidence of the entire of staff; this is to his inability to display exemplary leadership to pilot the affairs of this great citadel of learning.
When the whole thing started we were cowed to believe that it was a personal strife between the Rector and Saganuwan and as rivalry between ASUP and management. No one can fool every one all the time. African proverb goes: you can only hide gullies/gutter by burying them but you can't hide a mountain. I personally have studied the history of various demands of the unions but all circled round statutory entitlement which management or Rector persistently denies them; they never had it this rough for the entire history of the Bida poly. Based on these ASUP is now saying Dzukogi & his team must go and SSANIP too who just called off their sit at home strike also resolved this afternoon to reembark on total and indefinite strike over the same issue. We the student in my own humble opinion is also being owed by the same management. We all paid school fees and needed be taught in both theory and practicals , but let me as students in Sciences and engineering if their various departments received funds for practical consumables needed for practicals.
We paid for ICT which we never enjoyed.
We can't continue to watch at awe when we have voices that can make changes. ministry of education and NBTE is fully aware of the crisis but are playing ostrich pretending there is a governing council in place. If we can shake their table a little bit bringing the issue to the notice of presidency in a most peaceful manner, they will be ashamed not to act swiftly.
I therefore, suggest to our President to align our demand with the popular call at the moment: Dzukogi must go and let watch the difference that can bring.
