20 Rare Supercars Less Than 10 People Own. by teens(m): 7:33am On Jan 11, 2020
One-offs, limited editions, special editions… they’re all the rage in the supercar and hypercar world. These specially-built cars give companies like Pagani, Bugatti, Maybach, and others an excuse to build something epic and charge outrageous amounts of money—on top of the outrageous amounts that the base models usually cost.

It seems like supercars are a dime a dozen these days (some are still classics), but not these ultra-rare versions. All of these cars have 10 or fewer models in production, with 10 or fewer owners. Many are one-offs. Most of the owners are incredibly rich business magnates and people you’ve never heard of, though some celebrities are mixed in there.

The owners of these cars are part of a very exclusive club, and that’s by design. Everyone wants to be the sole owner of something, right?

Here are 20 rare supercars with fewer than 10 owners.

ICONA VULCANO (1)

via Motor Authority
There’s only one example in existence of this $3.8-million supercar, the Icona Vulcano. It’s the only fully titanium car ever built (combined with carbon fiber), developed as a concept car by an experienced Italian designer, Claudio Lombardi. The car took over 10,000 hours of handcrafting to complete, and with its 6-liter supercharged V8, it has 680 hp and is capable of 220 mph and a 0-60 mph time of less than three seconds.

MAYBACH EXELERO (1)

via Motor1
At one point in time, the one-off Maybach Exelero was the most expensive “production” car in the world—production in quotes because there’s only one of it. This German super luxury car cost just $8 million, and was owned by American rapper Birdman, then Jay-Z took it off his hands when Birdman couldn’t make payments. The two-door coupe is 19 feet long, 7 feet wide, and weighs over 2.6 tons! It also has a top speed of 218 mph thanks to its 5.9-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine.

W MOTORS LYKAN HYPERSPORT (7)

via Wikipedia
The super-rare limited-production Lykan HyperSport by W Motors is the only Lebanese supercar on this list. It was built in 2012 by Lebanese, French, and Italian designers. Only seven were built, each with a price tag of $3.4 million, making it the third-most-expensive production car at the time (behind the Lamborghini Veneno and Maybach Exelero). It has diamond-studded headlights, and ruby and sapphires integrated in the car. The Abu Dhabi police own one, and so does former MLB star Hector Olivera.

PAGANI ZONDA 760 RS (1)

via YouTube/TheTFJJ
We’re getting into questionable territory with the Pagani Zonda 760 RS one-off, because there have been about 10 different Pagani one-offs built. The car was built for a businessman from Chile, who is a close friend of Horacio Pagani’s, and a top customer. It features a tuned 7.3-liter V12 that produces 750 hp, and it’s made from carbon fiber, with a gaping roof intake and large fixed rear wing. Its top speed is around 220 mph.

16
TVR CERBERA SPEED 12 (1)

via Wikipedia
The TVR Cerbera Speed is a one-off supercar that you’ve probably never heard of. It was originally conceived to race in the GT1 series, but plans fell through and TVR as a company disbanded. Still, the Cerbera Speed 12 is an 860-bhp beast running on a V12 engine and a super lightweight shell, with a top speed of 240 mph and a claimed top speed faster than any car in the world, supposedly. TVR founder Peter Wheeler thought it was too unsafe for the road, but it was still strangely sold in a local Autotrader, according to Evo Magazine!

FERRARI P4/5 BY PININFARINA (1)

via Supercars
It’s pretty rare that Ferrari commissions one-off special edition cars, but the P4/5 by Pininfarina was an exception. It was made for film director James Glickenhaus, who has an affinity for Ferraris of yesteryear. Glickenhaus is the son of the stock exchange magnate Seth Glickenhaus. The design was inspired by the Ferrari 330 P4, but underneath it’s a Ferrari Enzo, with a project cost of $4 million and a Ferrari B140 B V12 that gives it 650 hp and an insane top speed of 233 mph.

14
ASTON MARTIN BULLDOG (1)

via Wikipedia
Aston Martins look a lot more aesthetically pleasing nowadays, but the Bulldog is a special car nonetheless—a one-off built in 1979, with a wedge-shape reminiscent of a Lamborghini Countach. It was powered by a twin-turbo 5.3-liter V8 that produced a massive 700 bhp and gave the supercar a top speed of 237 mph—insane for the late ‘70s, and even good for today! In 2012 it was on sale for $1.3 million.

13
BUGATTI CENTODIECI (10)

via Motor1
Bugatti is only making 10 of these $9-million supercars (all of which are already pre-sold), as an homage to the Bugatti EB110 supercar from the ‘90s. (“Centodieci” means 110 in Italian.) It was built in Northern Italy’s “Motor Valley,” near where Lambos, Ferraris, and Maseratis are built. In 2018, Bugatti outdid themselves again and introduced the “most expensive car ever sold,” the $19-million La Voiture Noire, with only one in existence. But we’re still marveling at the less-exclusive-but-still-super-exclusive 236-mph, 1,600-hp, 16-cylinder-powered Centodieci.

MCLAREN 720S VELOCITY/PACIFIC/TRACK THEME (3)

via Autocar
McLaren’s Special Operations division (MSO) has unveiled three specially commissioned, one-off supercars that went on display in 2018 and were sold to three individual owners. The 720S Velocity Theme, pictured here, was the first, followed by the Pacific Theme (painted in Cerulean blue) and Track Theme (painted in Anniversary White). The cars are completely bespoke on the inside, with hand-painted exterior flourishes.

KOENIGSEGG CCXR SPECIAL EDITION (2)

via Pinterest
Koenigsegg is another one of those hypercar/supercar companies that likes to put out one-offs and special edition vehicles just about every year, and we’re not complaining. The CCXR Special Edition is a one-of-two car by the Swedish manufacturer, built in 2007. The cars featured shimmering diamond-weave bodywork, twin-deck carbon fiber rear wings, and cost the two owners $4.8 million each. The twin-supercharged DOHC 4-valve V8 produces over 900 hp and a top speed of 249 mph!

10
KOENIGSEGG ONE:1 (7)

via Koenigsegg
Only six units—plus a prototype—of the One:1 supercar from Koenigsegg were built in 2014, making it one of the most exclusive cars of all time. It’s also one of the fastest, with a claimed top speed of 274 mph (the current top speed record is set by a Koenigsegg Agera R, which his 273 mph in 2017). All of the six One:1 cars were immediately sold. The name comes from the power-to-weight ratio which is a perfect 1,360 PS to 1,360 kg, giving it 1 PS per 1 kg mass. Its 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 puts out 1,341 hp and 1,011 lb-ft of torque.

KOENIGSEGG AGERA FINAL EDITION (3)

via Motor1
There aren’t that many Koenigsegg Ageras in existence, and there are even less “Final Edition” or “FE” models. Only three exist, featured at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show as a sendoff for the last models of the car. The fully-customizable cars were combined with the Agera RS chassis and the One:1 engine. The first car unveiled was called the “One of One, which unique orange paint, while the other two unveiled in 2018 were aptly named the “Agera FE Vader” and “Agera FE Thor.”

MERCEDES-BENZ CLK GTR ROADSTER (5)

via Pinterest
The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is a supercar/race car produced by Mercedes-AMG in 1997, and then modified in 1998 for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Only five models were ever produced: one test car for crash testing, one road-going version, and three race versions. As such, it’s one of the rarest Mercedes of all time. It uses an M119 HL V8 engine from Sauber C9/Sauber C11, which generated 600 hp and a 208-mph top speed. Chassis #005 was sold to a private collector in Japan after the 1998 season, and the road-going version also belongs in private hands.

7
LAMBORGHINI VENENO (5)

via YouTube/Gumbal
Probably the most righteous Lambo ever manufactured, the Veneno is a car that was developed in 2013 to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary. Only 5 coupes were made, and then 9 roadsters after that. It had a price of $4 million, making it the second-most expensive production car in the world at the time. Some of the owners are: Antonio Dominic (former Ferrari customer), Kris Singh (Managing Director of Tequesta Investments). Those two bought the car before even seeing it, by putting down their $4 million deposits.

6
MCLAREN F1 LM (6)

via Robb Report
The legendary McLaren F1 has a special edition under its belt: the LM, named for the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans race it raced in. Based on the F1 GTR, only six of these cars exist, including the prototype. The top speed is 225 mph, which is actually less than the standard version due to added aerodynamic drag. In 2019, an F1 LM sold for $19.8 million at an RM Sotheby’s California sale to a private collector, making it the most expensive McLaren and the 13th most expensive car ever sold.

5
NISSAN R390 GT1 (2)

via Motor1
Surprised to find Nissan on this list? Well, they have one of the most exclusive supercars ever built under their belt, the two-off R390 GT1. This street-legal supercar you’ve never heard of was designed for the 1997 and 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. Of the two existing road cars, one was sold at a private auction, and another is stored at Nissan’s Zama facility. It’s capable of 220 mph and was originally offered for $1 million.

4
BRISTOL FIGHTER (9)

via Classic & Sports Car
The Bristol Fighter is a supercar coupe designed by former Brabham Formula One engineer Max Boxstrom. Its engine (and body shape) are based off the V10 Dodge Viper, but modified to produce 525 hp and a crazy top speed of 210 mph. Between nine and 14 were ever built, all featuring gullwing doors. This hand-made, Mopar-powered luxury car has the looks of a 300SL Mercedes, and the power of a Viper… making it possibly the coolest car we’d never heard of.

3
YAMAHA OX99-11 (3)

via Wikipedia
This crazy looking spaceship car is the Yamaha OX99-11’V12, a sports car designed by Yamaha’s subsidiary, Ypsilon Technology, and an English engineering consultancy called IAD. Three were produced in 1992, designed by Takura Yura, all of the prototypes, as the car never got off the ground. Still, those prototypes are now worth quite a bit, considering the car was supposed to have an asking price of $800,000 back in the early ‘90s! One is blue, one is red, and one is yellow. One is owned by JCP Trade, and another went on sale for $1.3 million in 2019.

2
PAGANI ZONDA HP BARCHETTA (3)

via Pinterest
We must mention the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta because it’s a $23.65 million Zonda that was made with Pagani’s sole intention of making the most expensive car in the world (not sold at auction). Only three were made, with the “HP” standing for “Horacio Pagani.” It’s powered by a 6-liter bi-turbo V12 from AMG Mercedes and has 789 bhp. It’s made from carbon fiber and a chassis made of “carbo-titanium.” Pagani reserved one of the three cars as a 60th birthday present to himself.

1
LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR J (1)

via Top Gear
One of the most exclusive Lamborghinis of all time is the Aventador J, which is just an Aventador with a chopped off roof, no windshield, and a fixed rear wing. The roofless V12-powered supercar fetched $2.8 million at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012 to an anonymous buyer. With 690 hp, it has a top speed of 217 mph. The J stands for “Jota,” in reference to the Lamborghini Miura Jota from the 1970s.
