you need sense. maybe black mamba isn't found in the potor potor landlocked land of bia'fraud.
I'm a zoologist who is also more into wildlife and Eco tourism so I won't bother myself to argue with u.

You really need to burn that your certificate and come to www.animalespedia.com that learn about animals and educate yourself.

[quote author=Ebenezar2020 post=85790677] Black mamba isn't found in Nigeria?
this justified what I earlier said cos that's why your life is still where it is today because you feel you know it all.

Black mambas live in the savannas and rocky hills of SOUTHERN and EASTERN Africa,NOT in WEST Africa..

Do your research and stop acting like a NITWIT..

That snake doesn't look like a black mamba
A black mamba is usually smallish in size...i could be wrong!
A Black Mamba is the largest Venomous Snake in Africa and the second largest in the world, after the King Cobra and can grow up to 14 feet.

That said, this is not a Black Mamba..

Mambas are actually NOT Black in color..

...how do I prevent its reoccurrence?

1. Anti snake/reptiles fumigation of the environment.
2. + Plant tobacco plants around the house. In many places in the south in Nigeria, people call that plant "taba". Look for it and plant , it puts off snakes from an environment.

Same NatGeo to you your an advanced evolution of an Ape.
I bet you believe that too?

As along as u have forest anywhere in Subsaharan Africa u have Mambas there
If u haven't seen it others have seen it

All animals in a Subsaharan Africa exist in every part
Some just have more than others

NatGeo is restricted to research in eastern and Southern Africa mostly
West and Central Africa is not their strong base

Black Mambas are NOT residents of West Africa and it is Not all animals in Sub Saharan that lives in every part of Africa..

That's a blatant lie..

When you don't know how a particular animal looks and persists in calling it another animal.

How will you not be confused whether or not it lives around you?

Seems you are quoting the wrong person....if you carefully read my earlier comments,I said explicitly that the snake that was killed by the OP was not a black mamba...!
Though there are black mambas that are also black in colour based on some confirmed research, this particular one is not a black mamba...

it is a black mamba and it is the only snake that can stand on its tail to reach a platform outside of it reach. it is very deadly and preventing such is to have light flooding the place very well and a dog can help alert you to its presence. best of luck

that's a black mamba, very potent venom which kill within 20mins, a drrop is enough to kill 20 fully grown adult men, it is expected since you have a poultry, you can't really prevent dem from coming but you can atleast get snake traps or plant a particulr leaf called taba leaf it wards dem off

Sprinkle carbide, palmwine or pieces of bitter kola around the premises of your farm. There are leaves you can plant...haven't seen them but I've heard of them.

That's a cobra. Not a black mamba. Black mamba is not black please.

However, OP thank God for your life. You got rid of a very deadly snake. The venom is very deadly. It can raise its neck and spit deadly venom also.

"When u don't know ..."

I know, many others do
White man didn't discover anything here
People here already knew these animals
They have their indegineous names by the way
Even tho not all have but they are still known

If want to know animals, stop watching ur TV
Go and meet the Bush men and native hunters they would tell u and show u everything

The same way u can't get real news on ur country from CNN and co is the same way u can't get real info on Animals from ur NatGeo and co
What u are watching is dramatized entertainment mostly filmed in contained area (game reserve)
Real thing is in the bush

Subsaharan Africa (minus North Africa) has same set of Animals
Some have more than others due to environment conditions but they still exist in all parts
Species might differ but it's still same
Whiteman just give unnecessary names (west African this, South African that etc)

Forest area of Southwest Nigeria has lots of black mambas, also some swampy forest areas in SS SE

if I'm not mistaken some people have even posted topics with pics here on seeing them
