A Chieftain of the Congress for Progressive Change, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has promised Nigerians better leadership if voted as the country’s president in 2011.

Buhari made the promise in Abuja while picking the party’s expression of interest and presidential nomination forms.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of CPC, Mr. Dennis Aghanya, which was obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria, Buhari said he would offer the desired leadership if he emerged winner at both the party’s primaries and the general elections.

He thanked Nigerians for their solidarity and support, which, he said, he had enjoyed over the years. Buhari also assured the party members that victory was “definitely theirs’’.

He stressed the need for them to protect their votes so as to ensure that their dream of enthroning good leadership in the country was transformed into reality.

Buhari charged the party’s members to come together to ensure victory at all levels in the general elections.

The party’s National Chairman, Senator Rufai Hanga, assured Buhari of the party’s preparedness “to go into the 2011 general elections with all eyes wide open’’.

He said that the party’s leadership would do everything to fight election rigging and ensure that all votes court in 2011.

The statement quoted the Deputy Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Sule Hamma, as saying that the party would not go to court after the 2011 general elections as it has resolved to end it all at the poll.

NAN reports that the expression of interest and presidential nomination forms were issued to Buhari by the party`s leadership at the cost of N500,000 and N5m respectively.
