Love is the most abused and overused word in the world I believe. These days, people just try to use it to get through to someone when they need one thing or the other. Men and women today simply just use love as a means to get what they want from the opposite sex. Teenagers, adolescents and youths has now redefined it to mean sex. Fake Clergies use it as a powerful tool to deceive and brainwash their congregation into doing thier bidding. Entertainment industry and pop culture is not left out too, they are making sure that the young ones coming up are quickly educated and taught the new redefined sex meaning of love and even go ahead to give visual demonstrations.

So what is true love? Love has no standard definition, Wikipedia defines it as that which “encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection and to the simplest pleasure”. Others would say it is a glue bonds a relationship and keeps it strong and solid. For me, love is a genuine and unselfish deep feeling of emotions and affection towards somebody or something, which eventually transforms into caring, respecting and supporting them with a powerful urge to want to be with them as long as possible. This love can exist between friends, family, and partners.

When someone claims to love you, he or she must also want the best for you. Support you in your endeavours and ambitions, care for you like you are a part of them, respect you and your views, be with you and stand by you in good and bad. Love is not lust neither is it all about sex, though lust and sex are an important part of romantic love. Love is not something that comes at an instant, it develops with time and takes time to grow. Love at first sight is just a powerful infatuation and feeling of sexual chemistry. It is possible for you to have a deep sexual feeling and chemistry with someone and not love them.

Finally, love sticks around and stays no matter what. It has no expiry date, it grows more powerful with age and stays forever. True love does not fade out and the fire never goes off. It does not depend on hormones and does not appear and disappear like magic. Your parents and siblings truely loves you and that feeling stays the same forever. God loves us and not minding our shortcomings, he went ahead and died for us, that love still abounds today and forever.
