Parents and some newly admitted students have decried multiple charges by public universities in the country, payment of high ‘acceptance fees’ alongside other moneys demanded during registration. Daily Trust reports that many federal and state universities charge over N50,000 from each prospective student as acceptance fee prior to “screening” that will pave way for the student to register. In some universities, the money paid for registration is between N35,000 and N40,000. This is besides what they pay as registration which comes with different subheadings.https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/parents-students-lament-high-acceptance-fee-in-public-varsities.html 4 Likes 1 Share

This fraud in the name of acceptance fee has been going on for years. Parents are only now getting uncomfortable with it. Lets be sincere here. Its not only the internet fraudsters that we should berate in this country. Many of our sectors are into fraud in one way or the order. This acceptance fee is one of them. ICT and ID card we paid for the past two sessions in my school,we've had yet to have access to these but payment are made by students every new session. 19 Likes 1 Share |

This is why I love my school ABU, Zaria. There's nothing like acceptance fee, and the school is doing better than most of the Universities in Nigeria. No department pays up to N36,000 for school fees, medical fees, faculty charges and other charges. Freshers in my department pay just N29,500. 43 Likes 3 Shares |

Now that they just implemented the new minimum wage, they want to milk us by force. Every thing have come in double. Imagine the finance act, everyone is going to pay for this one way or the other. Confused government. |

In as much as the "high" acceptance fees is not acceptable to parents/guardians, without intending to sound non-compassionate, it must be understood that these monies somewhat prop up what is allocated by government. The 2020 budget for education is an exiguous 43 billion naira for over 20 federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Unless benefactors are okay with the rising half-baked status of beneficiaries, let their parsimonious view of education be considered and the vicious cycle of incompetence continue. 4 Likes |

Very soon the northen will become more educated than any other region's , school fees cheap in the north. keep deprieving the poor the chance to be educated while the north pave way for the less previledge to be educated , imagine acceptance which is more than registration fee in the north... I don't see the need for the payment of acceptance fee, it is just a means for them take more from the struggling niger I paid 25,000 as my acceptance fee that year... And it seems they are thinking about increasing it for freshers this year... |
