The attention of Masters Reality Internanational Concept Ltd has been drawn to a fictitious report in Punch newspaper with the headline “Task Force Dislodges Land-Grabbers from Couple’s Land” published on January 27. We want to state that this report smacks of lies, devoid of solid reportage and lacks merit.

We want to let the members of the public know that Masters Reality International Concept Ltd is a foremost and reputable property development company that has to its credit, various viable and popular projects that spread across Lagos in residential and commercial purposes. So, for Punch to publish a report alleging that such organisation and the CEO, Lai Omotola are land grabbers is totally uncalled for, completely baseless and ridiculous.

We want to reiterate that our company bought this land from Ibari Family legally and legitimately; and the Family has legal title to that land. Masters Reality International Concept Ltd has been in possession of this land since 2018. At present, the two parties are in court over the disputed land. It is rather surprising that Coordinator of Task Force will say he received a petition which he neither informed us nor invited us. To our utmost chagrin, on Friday Taskforce operatives came to demolish our construction board. Upon enquiry, we were told that they came from department of land grabbing of the agency.

It should be noted that in the course of the invasion, they stole lots of expensive site equipment.

When we called the state Coordinator, he told us that they were reliably informed that there was no permit and therefore , Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA, had issued the go ahead order to demolish the property. Upon hearing that, we called LASBCA office to enquire why they should give such an order when we have paid all mandatory fees required by Lagos State Government. LASBCA vehemently denied any knowledge of the demolition. We then sent for representatives of the family that sold the land to us to the Lagos State Task Force on land grabbing. They were in the office of the State Coordinator, Owolabi Arole last Friday and held a meeting with him. The Ibari Family showed him overwhelming evidences to proof their ownership of the land. On seeing the documents, Arole was visibly shocked and promised to summon the two parties on Monday to decide on what to do. Unfortunately, he never waited for the meeting he promised to convene, but went ahead to demolish the property.

We want to note that the demolition of the property has nothing to do with land grabbing at all, it’s about personal war that the Coordinator of Task Force is waging with MD of Masters Reality International Concept because the MD has declined to give him any bribe. He continues tampering with our properties, moving from one site to another, wreaking havoc on those sites. He is also furious that we have petitioned the Governor and the Attorney-General of Lagos; so this informed his decision to take vengeance, deploying official authority to achieve personal and selfish interests. But we want him to know that he cannot use public office to be fighting personal wars , therefore, we are eagerly waiting for him to tender all evidences to back up what is he doing. He should note that it is totally illegal for him to demolish our properties without a valid court order authorising it and cannot demolish properties that have paid necessary dues to Lagos State Government. We will respond to this vagabondage acts appropriately with all legal instruments as this will rein in illegalities of this power drunk public official who doesn’t have any business in public service.
