First Bank (issues); "Ibadan Branch" by thankyouJesus(m): 8:01pm On Jan 28, 2020
I am left with no option (I have placed several calls, sent direct messages on Twitter, wrote (severally) to First contact, visited and submitted all required documents) anymore but to tow this line. In a bid to protect the financial institution, I will keep the details of my grievance for now.

I have searched online with no direction in sight of how to close a savings account.

How long does it take to close a First Bank account?

What documents do I need to go with when closing my account?

My account is domiciled in Lagos and I am schooling in Ibadan, can I initiate the process at any branch or I will need to visit my branch in Lagos?

cc: Lalasticlala

Please help out.... I have exhausted all channels to express my grievance for close to 3 weeks.

This frustration can only stem from one thing.
.
Your details on your ID card do not match your details on your BVN. Your account is probably restricted and you have money trapped in it.
.
Now, you need to do a court affidavit and correct the details so they match. You probably did your BVN in a bank different from where you have your money, so you will have to visit that bank for the correction of your BVN details.... your suffering continues here.
.
P. S: The bank is not to blame when you provide wrong details on important documents like ID card and BVN.
stop blaming the bank.

Smiles, thank you for your feedback but what you've written is very far from the truth.

The details on all my documents are consistent.

Summary of my issue:
I noticed I can't make any financial transaction and I was at the bank (08 - 01 - 2020) to ask why.... I was told it is due to "kyc (know your customer)". What does knowing your customer got to do with my account (my thought)?

I submitted all requested documents (10 - 01 - 2020). 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 days after when I got no feedback (SMS, Call, Email), I paid a visit to the branch once more and I was asked to submit some other documents which I complied with also.

It is not my intention to drag First Bank online (I can't write on my experience from 10 - 01 - 2020 : 28 - 01 - 2020 because it will be a great disservice to her organization and customer's service) but to get answers to my questions.

You're probably a staff of First Bank, please do well to call me out if I've written something contrary.

12 - 01 - 2020.
Please be advised that your complaint has been registered with case ref "FBN-1201202910719" and it will be resolved within 3 working days counting from today. You will be notified once it is resolved.

The only thing I have against firstbank is their ATM. The buttons and hardly press and even the written functions on most buttons are no longer clear

I am not a first bank staff.
KYC --you supply your ID card, utility bill and they check to make sure your information tallies with your BVN.

so what additional documents were you providing if all your information tallies?

Ohhh my bad, I'm sorry. I thought you're a staff of First Bank.

My account was opened in Lagos (I've submitted utility bill, etc to this effect).

I school in Ibadan and I was asked to submit some other documents which I did too.

You keep mentioning 'some other documents', but you aren't saying what they are.
ID, Utility bill, bvn and maybe passport are all you need for kyc.
Anything additional on a regular student or savings account will border on incorrect details.

Smiles.... That should be admission letter and hostel allocation (accommodation) form (receipt).

I was at the bank today and I was asked to write a letter (letter of upgrade).

From KYC -> Update -> Upgrade (this matter just taya me).
