The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Adam Oshiomhole has reportedly picked his former Deputy, Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu as his preferred aspirant to slug it out with the incumbent governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki at the APC primaries for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.

According to media report, Odubu was allegedly picked because of his resounding knowledge and for his unflitching loyalty to the APC, as his matter was said to be considered by the inner caucus that met with the National Chairman, to deliberate on the candidate that can appeal to the majority of the electorates during the poll. A group within Edo State APC said they cannot entirely rely on Ize-Iyamu because, he might play them out if given power.

Recall that the incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki have been at a logger heads with the former governor and the National Chairman of the ruling APC, Adams Oshiomole, whom the deputy governor Mr. Shuaibu said cannot enter Edo State without first seeking permission from the governor.

As the crisis fester on, the governor, Mr Obaseki in a viral video circulating online, have promised to severely deal with Oshiomole, if he dare to cause any further trouble in the State.

Obaseki stated further that, Oshiomole himself cannot tolerate an inch of what he is currently doing now from anyone when he was the governor of the State.

Oshiomole, have however sworn that Obaseki will not return as governor. Prior to the crisis, the duo were best political friends.

Mr Oshiomole is said to be considering Odudu ahead of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) candidate in 2016 election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who recently defected to the APC, because he is trying to avoid facing similar fate he was faced with Mr Obaseki.

He he....the national sets the mode of primaries and the delegates... So what are u saying.... It is the mode of conducting the primaries that oshiomole and co picks that the state must follow...except the national HQ of the party leaves it to the discretion of the state.

There are only two political groups in Edo state, the EPM ( Edo people's movement) and the OSM (Obaseki Shuaibu Movement). This would have been an opportunity for PDP or another party to win Edo state but unfortunately, PDP is dead in Edo state.
