These keke people were a total and complete Nuisance. They constituted a whole lot of mess in Lagos.

Does Okada ride in Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, Berlin or New York?

Even, is Okada in Onitsha? Why would Okada be allowed in Ikeja the seat of government?

For those saying crime rate will increase, thats unless Lagos state government is clueless and stuppid. Sanwo Olu is smart though as far as I know and a very hardworking governor. You can deny this if you want... But the heavy volume of work going on Lagos roads speaks for itself.

Obiano the drunkard banned Okada in Anambra. Did heavens fall? Rochas even went to the extent of banning keke in the entire state. Did crime rate increase? Was okada not banned in Nnewi even with the rate of billionaire Okada importers from that axis? Did anybody die?

What most of you don't know is that Nigeriens, Chadians, Sudanese, Malians and Somalians took over South West without anybody knowing! It was gradual, crude and definite.... But they were almost succeeding before I believe Sanwo Olu stepped in. At a time, I was asking myself if there is no regulatory body managing these people in Lagos anymore.

They virtually took over Lagos with there stuppid, crazy and mannerless style of driving. They felt like Lords of the city and if you try to caution them, they will bow there heads in foolishness to thank you. But in there hearts, they were calling you Mumu after scratching your car.

What is Keke doing in Victoria Island? Who even brought this useless contraption to Nigeria? India that manufactures these nonsense made moves to regulate them.

Google Indian roads and see how organized keke driving is. But in Lagos, its madness! They will keep on creating multiple lanes that cause traffic, scratching peoples car with no mercy, hitting pedestrians with reckless abandon while using there Okada and useless keke to rob at night!

I ask again, is Lagos no longer a city? Why is there no Okada in Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, Berlin, Stuttgart, Dubai, Osaka, Chicago or New York?

Sanwo Olu if you are reading this, its not much about making these laws. Its about enacting and enforcing these laws! Enforce the ban and see sanity return to Lagos!

cc

In the cities you quoted there are metro lines that ensure mass transit but in Lagos and other cities that okada was banned there is no fumciional mass transit system

Ask those using the ikorodu get corridor how long they must wait to get on the bus? What stops the LASG from leasing that corridors to more than one company to boost competition and bus numbers? Why are they always buying buses by themselves when you have investment hungry business men and women looking for good returnson investment?

Of course Okadas and kekes had to fill in the vacuum these self centred APC and PDP characters that occupy leadership positions.

The timing is very very wrong especially in Lagos....Ambode's bus reform project was a systematic approach a better approach. Create more bus stops to prevent too much trekking, get comfortable mega buses tplying within the metropiaolise...the likes can complete the last mile.

What is sanwo olu's plan for replacing those eye sores we call danfo?

YOU DO NOT TAKE SOMETHING AWAY WITHOUT FIRST PROVIDING A BETTER REPLACEMENT.

Yes okadas and kekes have become a menace But you all these governors just want to seem powerful and make a false statement with the people paying the ultimate price

In Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, Berlin, New York and every other developed nation, they have multiple transportation systems, that way, no sane citizen would not opt for a bike knowing it's dangers

Nigeria has no good transport system, the citizens are the ones catering to their transport challenges

When brt was introduced, it reduced some burden, brt is not enough, check the number of people at brt stations day in day out

Well Monday would tell the difference on us

In fact Nigeria has no infrastructure whatsoever, the citizens provide for all their need whne the government should be doing so

Below are some public transport systems in those countries you mentioned, I've only seen them on internet or movies or tv because I've not traveled out of Nigeria before, not even Ghana

Must I travel to outside before I can use such...

BTW, it's not a one man project, they're government projects, that way my car can chill at home except when I really feel like driving
You are the real MVP! We hail and celebrate mediocrity here, no wonder people applaud Keke/Okada ban as a great achievement.
Untill government commit to infrastructural development especially road and transport.....I will continue to see them as political jokers.

you guys make a mistake of putting beauty of environment as priority as against humanity. What happens to the families of the millions that has just been rendered jobless by this small move? Do you know 7how many children that will drop out of school because of this?

Let's have love of humanity in our hearts first before anything. Nobody will love to do okada or Keke work everyday if they have jobs.

If we are to compare Lagos with Tokyo and newyork, does Lagos have well organised subway system? Are there functional high speed trains? What about monorails and trams? Are there jobs? What about social security, access to credit and business support system?

Bottom line, before the government brings a policy that will in one swoop render over a million people jobless, they should ensure the society is working.

These people are trying against all odds to put food of their table, and the same government that destroyed the society is still the same one opposing them. This Is sad.

Dont put beauty of the state before humanity.

Do they think before they act? The individuals commending these "low reasoned policies" are the ones rich enough to drive big cars that have dashboard cameras that took the same snap shots of that very flyover we see above. They are indeed glad that they can try out the speed of their cars without the hindrances of these tricycles and bikes.
These policies favour those who are seemingly at the top. We should learn to consider those down. This land belongs to both.

Taxi rides are more expensive than Uber/taxify and are much less comfortable.

The day I saw carpenters (laden with tools and machines) order a ride on Uber to a site and back to their workshop I knew the era of yellow taxis was coming to an end. The Uber was a lot cheaper than whatever the yellow taxis would charge.

For me they should grant special licenses to Max.ng, Gokada, and Opay...and set a minimum threshold of say, no more 5 accident cases per.week, beyond which their licenses will be suspended and they are made to pay heavy fines.

They should completely ban Keke. They do one chance too much with that.

They should register uniform-bearing local okadas to ply in inner street ways and alleyways, while they contrive creative ways to permanently nip them in the bud.

Stopping people from moving from point A to B is very unreasonable. It extremely reduces the number of productive hours they have.

And let's not forget that there are only about 3 million cars in a city of over 20 million people. Less than 1% of these 3 million car owners have 500,000 naira and above in their bank accounts. So from another angle, this is a bad political decision that may eventually lead to revolt and breakdown in public order.

Please, Sanwo Olu, don't make Lagos unnecessarily sit on a time bomb. These folks are definitely going to break into car windows in the coming nights and steal from the cars as traffic jam mounts.

My advice to car owners, watch out on where you go, and most importantly go home early or use public transport, and please stop hitch-hiking.

Those who will do crime will still do it with or without okada or rickshaw. Crime will not increase stop creating unnecessary panic.

Those buses calling Maryland - Palmgrove from Ikeja can route their buses either through Olowu-Toyin-Opebi Roads or through Obafemi Awolowo way-Allen Avenue - Opebi Road.
The only snag to the success of plying the above routes are availability of buses and the transport fare those, sometimes, manipulative bus drivers will choose to charge passengers going that way.

But do make available more organized and well tailored Public system of transportation and movement! If Eastern Governors banned Keke and Okada and heavens did not fall, NOTHING DO YOU.

NB
For those quoting me and saying "Why am I working and investing in Lagos and why not the East"... My answer is very simple.

Lagos gave my life some meaning that our five hopeless Eastern Governors never gave me. Infact, Sanwo Olus government has been so good to Mainland Lagos where I do busines. Why would I hate him? Why bite fingers that is trying to give my life a meaning? Infact, more of Gods blessings and protection on him as I believe he is taking Lagos to its original plan which in my opinion, AMBODE ABANDONED.
You and somebody get quarrel before?!!!
