It really matters to me if Jesus were black or white, because art is a form of communicating important historical information. The first artist who portrayed Jesus did he or she take the time out to have gotten the facts about the race of Jesus before forcing others to see him as white?

But what is stirring the pot of controversy is the level of deception that was thrown at black people in general. If Jesus weren't white then why are we seeing him as such?

Are not Christian artists concerned about what they portray? If racism was not an element within the whole affair then why is it at one point in time racism/slavery was pushed as a divine mandate by many Christians?

Christians need to stop hiding under the notion that "it doesn't really matter as long as you serve Him." Truth is important in all areas of life, and not just in some.

If jesus was Black Christianity would have finished before it started and the white population would be atheists. Period!

It seems you have very little faith in black people, correct?

Jesus could have been a black man. I am sure this was why he was not readily accepted. Look not upon me because I am black. Solomon said that and pls dont forget that he was in the lineage of solomon

Whats black?
Was Adam black? White?
You are not a physical being, you are a spirit living in a physical body. Jesus lived in a body as what the Jews of today have.

A Nigger Jesus??   grin  grin  grin
Impossible. I know the whole arguement about solomon, middle east, blah blah blah!!
But its as simple as ABC, if Jesus were black, he would have been crucified before he reached age 33, he wouldnt have had that many Disciples, His religion would be regarded as a cultist (Negative) movement, and his mesage would have drowned in the Red sea. Infact Joseph would have kicked herass to the curb, Mary would have miscarried or Herod would have succeeded in assasinating his ass at birth. Wismen wouldnt have come to see him, e.t.c.

Are you guys serious about Jesus being black??
Nigga puleeeeeeze. angry
If Jesus were black, the bible would have ended with the book of Malachi

White people would not look up to anyone but themselves, and blacks would not worship any deitytat isnt white.  grin

If he was black, then he was either an Albino, bleached or under went surgery to change skin color (Micheal Jacksonoplasty).  grin

I just can't help myself!!

If Jesus were black, then hindusim would be the biggest religion in the world.
If Jesus were black, He would have been crucified, shot, chopped up and cremated just to make sure he never ressurected again.

Read Solomon's song chapter 1 vs 5&6
Re: Could Jesus Have Been A Black Man by Bobbyaf(m): 8:41am On Jan 13, 2009
The belief that Solomon was speaking of himself in this statement, "I am black and comely,, " is stupid, and without thought and research. This was never said by Solomon.  It was said by a dark-skinned woman.

The book upon closer study shows a dialogue that is not easily discernible. If you're going by context what sense would it make for Solomon to be saying he is black and comely (beautiful)?

Verse 5. I am black, but comely (O ye daughters of Jerusalem) as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. 6. Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me, they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.

Notice the speaker mentions the curtains of Solomon as a comparison. The speaker goes on to say that being the keeper of the vinyard made her skin dark, and suggested that that to her was a form of punishment.

Now, does that sound like the king to you?

It says in the Bible that:

Jesus had skin the color of bronze, and hair like wool.

No white man has features like that. angry

Also, he came from Bethlehem (Palestine), which is in the Middle East. People who originate in the Middle East have brown-colored skin, not white. And, you should also note that these are mostly desert lands that get alot of sun. The more sun you get, the more melanin your skin produces. This is why Africans are Black and Northern Europeans are White.

I agree that Jesus could never have been white, and neither could He have been a negroid.

But you still have to be careful how you decode Revelation as a book. In chapter 1 John sees Jesus walking through the seven golden candlesticks. Does it mean that John saw a giant stand that could accommodate the size of Jesus? How could Jesus literally walk between candlesticks?

John saw an appearance of Jesus in vision, but it doesn't mean that what he sees in every vision is to be taken literally. For example Ezekiel in vision saw Lucifer as an angel but described him as wearing certain precious stones as if those stones were apart of the angel. Another example is when John saw a sea of glass. Does it mean that there is literally a sea of glass, or did it appear to the prophet that way?

Could it be that the prophets in vision were limited in how they expressed what they saw?

Could be.

Or,

Perhaps it could be that certain words do not translate well into modern English, and that things we read may not mean what we think. undecided

Thanks for reminding me of that idea too. Some times certain translations can be problematic.

@ poster

You are trying to shake the pillars of Christianity as it is now.

But a big business for Artists if it were to be accepted as being black. They will earn millions turning the White Jesus to Black Jesus in the churches.

<Yes man!! Do you know who Halie Selassie I was?? Do you know anything about Rastafarian culture>

re: Halie Selassie is a man, an Ethiopian.

Jesus was never a dark skinned, and it has nothing to do with white stupid means to downgrade other culture through mindless games.

And by the way, what difference does it make if Jesus was brown, red, yellow, or other color?
Did you call upon him?
If he had answered you even though you have not seen his face - that is good enough.
Case closed!
