Nigerian ingenuity, these guys are now converting 1924 Mercedes trucks to tippers. They do this by building a bigger bucket for the truck locally, then fitting the trucks with tipping mechanism after upgrading the engine functions. They do all these locally. The trucks are now popular and supplies sand and stones to many locations in the east.

The bucket of this one you showed is a standard factory made size, however, the bucket of the one I showed is locally fabricated to carry more load. Of course 1924 trucks have bigger engines than 911, 1313 or 1213.

Most of the 1924 trucks in Nigeria came in as a trailer tractor, previously used to tow trailers and have only turn tables at the point where the buckets are now. But some local guys started converting these tractors to tippers by doing some chassis modifications, removing the turn tables and fitting tipping mechanism and a locally fabricated bucket so they can use them to haul sand and stones for building construction. That was the ingenuity I was talking about.

I once managed trucks in my former company some years ago. We had the Mercedes 911, 1213, 1313, 1414, 1924, Actross models among many others in our fleet.

We are still plastering and dressing this house.......

Not a big fan of the sewage and water pipes on the surface of buildings. I am sure there are options to surface mount. What are the advantages and shortfalls of the options?

The surface mount is easier to maintain in a leak or damage situation. The identification of leaking area, ease of repair and shorter time spent will cost less. In a conduit piping work, any leakage or repair will take more time for the problem area to be identified since most of the pipes are inside the walls. Then again, correcting a leak or repairing or replacement of a damaged pipe can cost more, take a longer time and the discomfort to the occupants of the house will be more.

Conduit piping is usually better where there are fewer occupants in a house, externally mounted piping are much suitable for multiple dwelling units. Thanks.

We have completed the plastering of this building, all bamboo scaffolds has been removed, all holes patched and all other details completed.

For commercial property where there are many renters, piping wastes externally is a cheaper option. This is because of the ease of maintenance in case of blockage.
