Flexible targeting capabilities allow the S-400 to defend against a variety of threat and attacks


Anti-stealth capabilities give the S-400 the potential to take down the enemy’s most advanced combat aircraft. Its long range allows the system to target refueling tankers and AWACS, or airborne early warning and control aircraft


It's unit cost is about $300 million per fire unit it comes with Artillery battalion which consists of 9 launchers, 120 missiles, command and support vehicles.
It has a panoramic radar detection system (range 600 km) with protection against jamming. The system can track 300 targets. Six battalions of surface-to-air missile systems (an independent combat system) can track no more than six targets on their own, with an additional two battalions if they are within a 40-kilometre (25 mi) range.


It also has a variant which has a multi-functional radar with a 400-kilometre (250 mi) range which can track 100 targets. The launcher is mounted on a trailer (up to 12 launchers) are used for launch
The long range launchers are authorized for use by the Russian Army.


All the missiles are equipped with directed explosion warhead, which increases the probability of complete destruction of targets
Anti-aircraft missile system, designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, it can also be used against ground targets
The S-400 is able to intercept cruise missiles out to a range of about 40 km due to their low altitude flight paths


It has a speed of 4.8 kilometres per second (17,000 km/h; 11,000 mph; Mach 14)
The system response time is 9-10 seconds


According to assessment it's said it's flaws is "If an S-400 battalion is acting in isolation or is not backed up by other modern air defenses, it likely doesn't have enough missiles to withstand a determined onslaught". Stratfor


The first country outside Russia to acquire this piece of hardware is BELARUS before CHINA and TURKEY


Future operators are SAUDI ARABIA and INDIA.
