Our unwise goverment workers.

Today marks the second day, and they are only focused on searching the spot from which he jumped.

Is the body just going to remain on one spot?

These people quoting because of the above comment, do u know how far talking to people can go? Not necessarily talking to them about your problems. Locking yourself up is counter productive. Go out, gist with friends, laugh, come back home and tackle your problem with a fresh mood.

However, Idowu Badmos, driver of the call cab, and his car has been taken to Adekunle Police Station, Yaba, Lagos.

What I'm trying to rap my head around is why the driver and his cab was taken into custody.
Imagine the drivers the driver had lost in money that day. Now, you unprofessional police have to apprehend him and his car.
Can't you simply tell him to report daily at a particular station for further questions

22 years of age?!
What a wasted life.

Wire gauze on that bridge from end to end will save lives in the future.
I hope H.E Sanwo considers this.

I've thought of wire gauze too. But then that's just only one avenue of committing suicide eliminated. The root causes of all these suicide need to be addressed before it becomes a normal practice and it gets out of control. Once it becomes commonplace it will just be like a virus too late to curtail.

A few years back the young man would have heard or read about suicide on 3rd mainland bridge and laughed about it or even wondered why should someone do such or said RIP, or blamed Buhari or ... not knowing he was next.
May God protect us and keep us from being victims of evil we see or read in Jesus name.

Is it against the law for a driver to stop at a bridge for a passenger to relieve himself? What if he had gotten down to pee and jumped over the bridge railings faster than the driver could act, would that make it the driver's fault?

If he's taken to the station to make official statement, no problem but I trust our police, they won't let him go that easily

The Driver may have averted it by being more observant. The boy must have been acting suspicious. If someone acting weird suddenly tells me he wants to relieve himself on third mainland bridge, I will not stop if I'm the driver. If they let him go easily he will still show lack of concern next time

Is it against the law for a driver to stop at a bridge for a passenger to relieve himself?

Is there toilet on the bridge?
We shouldn't just be about making money and feel less concerned. We should be proactive in our reasoning. Why not get down the bridge and look for eatries or public toilet for the rider. The safety of the rider should be your sole responsibility till he gets to his final destination.

What if he had gotten down to pee and jumped over the bridge railings faster than the driver could act, would that make it the driver's fault?

Stomach upset, not urination. Read the story well. Stomach upset entails that u need a toilet and there's non on the bridge. Driver should have been swift in reasoning.

What is this one saying? U wise for your mind abi? If the driver refused and the passenger shouts that he or she is being kidnapped and mob action follows... U dull ehn

May we never get to a point where all hope is lost. Depression is the major cause of suicide and hopelessness is the major cause of depression,....When a man is depressed his life energy becomes darkened and he is overuled by the spirit of death . . .

It was reported yesterday of a young man who boarded a car-hailing service, Uber from Gbagada.

He had complained of stomach trouble and asked to relieve himself only to jump into the lagoon.

A search has been carried out by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) who in turn had engaged local divers.

Chances of getting him alive is slim, as the search has been suspended for two days as a result of exhaustion and the opposing water-currents.

However, Idowu Badmos, driver of the call cab, and his car has been taken to Adekunle Police Station, Yaba, Lagos.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/02/3rd-mainland-bridge-suicide-lasema-rescue-team-suspend-recovery-search-for-48-hrs/

The identity of the young man has been found to be Daibo Toju Davies, 22 years old and lives at 17 Sosanya Street, Gbagada, Lagos State.
His death is unexpected tragedy, I pray God gives strength to his loved ones to survive his death

Detaining the cab driver is a very wrong decision by whoever authorized it as that will send wrong signal to other Nigerians who witness such scene. They won't report such incidence to appropriate authorities whenever such needs arises. They worst case was to question the cab driver on the incidence, take his statement down, get his biodata and contact details, inform him of the need for his attention in respect of the case whenever the need arises, then let him go on with his business. And, these should be within an hour without wasting his time. Our government are unusual sometimes, tend to wonder if they are in a separate planet.
