Dubai rose from the ashes of bankruptcy to attain significant economic gains and Burj Khalifa is a testament of how the city has come a long way in a very short time. Monumental cost and size The concrete used in the entire structure is estimated to weigh around 110,000 tons which is equivalent to about 100,000 adult elephants. In addition, the entire area of the building is equivalent to 17 football fields. The cost of construction was staggering $1.5 billion. 4. Condensation The building has an advanced cooling system that helps to control the heat conditions. It involves a huge amount of condensation that collects water in the basement which is used to irrigate the green spaces. The condensation process collects approximately 15 million gallons of water each year which can fill up to 20 Olympic size swimming pools. 5. Art collection A building as big as the Burj Khalifa is bound to have a lot of wall space to fill. The building has a massive art collection of over 1000 pieces from the world’s most famous artists. Some of them are specifically commissioned for the building.
