The prime minister of India Narendra Modi joined hundreds of thousands of Indians who are delighted to welcome the US president to their beloved country.

Tens of thousands lined the streets to greet him in Ahmedabad city, in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat.

The state visit comes at a time when india is facing serious unemployment issues.

Trump is expected to inaugurate the world's largest cricket stadium; with about over 100,000 people, expected to witness the historic event. This spectacle alone is expected to cost more than $13m (£10m).

A trade agreement with India and the US is expected following months of negotiations. Currently, the US-India bilateral trade stands at $160bn.

Reports by popular media sources suggest multi-billion dollar defence deals are part of the various deals that will be made on Mr Trump's India visit.

Suggestions include the sale of helicopters for the navy. It is reported that before the trump embarked on the trip, the US State department approved a possible sale of an integrated Air Defence Weapon System for $1.8bn.

India is known to make defence purchases from the Russians and the French but it recently turned its attention to the US, according to an analyst.

Trump also confirmed the defence deal by saying,
“I am pleased to announce that tomorrow our representatives will sign deals to sell over $3 billion, in the absolute finest state of the art military helicopters and other equipment to the Indian armed forces,”

Also adding,
As we continue to build our defence cooperation, the US looks forward to providing India with some of the best & most feared military equipment on the planet. We make the greatest weapons ever made. We make the best and we are dealing now with India.
